Retainers/Teeth?

Ok... i had my braces off last summer and they gave me retainers and i wore them full time for about 2months but then i didnt.. i should of carried on til february but i didnt i only wore them at night (my fualt i know) and i wear them everynight now like they told me to at my last apointment and all my teeth are great apart from the 2 front ones, every morning they are perfect (after the retainers) and then in the evening they have just slightly moved. what shall i do.. wear the retainers full time (if yes for how long would u say)? is it too late to fix my teeth to how they were? thanks!

Retainers/Teeth?
You need to wear your retainers full time until you teeth stop shifting without them. This will vary from person to person and their age plays a factor as well. Your orthodontist can probably give you a more specific answer, but in general the retainer keeps the teeth in place until the roots of your teeth have attached to the jaw and made your pretty new smile permanent.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:hah they tell me that crap too. but my teeth never move, my retainer always fits in and i wear it to bed.

i'd say that if your teeth are moving and you notice it -- wear the retainer.

better safe then sorry and you dotn want to pay for bracess again when you are 30
Reply:Put the retainer back in and leave it in!I did that when I was young and the teeth are still lose after all that. They will move.I didn't find out till it was too late and mine moved.
Reply:wear the retainer!! i refused one when i was 13, thought i knew it all and a retainer wasnt cool!! got a mouth full of crooked teeth, nice white teeth but very crooked!!
Reply:Hi there

My advice wold be to carry on with your retainer in the mean time and make a appointment to go back to see your orthodontist as soon as possible...

my daughter had a similar problem and she returned and the orthodontist fixed the problem in no time..

good luck with this and remember and get it seen to because a beautiful smile is amazing...
Reply:if you can tell that your teeth have moved than I'd leave it in.
Reply:If you are worried about them shifting and don't want to wear your retainer during the day, ask your orthodontist about getting a permanent retainer. Its a little wire that gets cemented to the back side of your teeth. It stays there all the time so your teeth never move and you can't see it since it's on the back. I have that type and I love it. The downside is that it makes it harder to floss, but I find the trade off of not wearing a visible retainer to be well worth it.
