Has anyone had descent teeth that they believed did not need braces but the dentist put them on anyway?

I have natrually straight teeth but Im scared there going to put braces on me any ways. I have had many friends say that their teeth were fine but their dentist claimed they didnt have the "perfect smile" just yet and they needed braces. Anyone have any thought about this?

I felt the same way before my dentist suggested braces. I thought my teeth were perfectly straight, but dentists see things we don't. When I got them off, I was shocked at how much better they looked and now that I look back at pictures before my braces, I realize that they actually weren't that great before like I thought. Trust me, the dentists will only recommend them if they really think you could benefit from them. They don't suggest them just to make money because its the orthodontists that actually put the braces on and get the money for them anyways.
Reply:You could probably go elsewhere and get a second opinion if you really strongly feel you don't need braces. Also, think about if you have a trustworthy dentist or not. Has he done a good job on your teeth in the past?
Reply:Some people may think their teeth look straight but usually they aren't completely.
