Does extremely fast teeth improvment with braces mean you get them removed sooner?

I have braces, And I have only had them for two months. My orthodonist said I needed them for two years! BUT after only two months, the front top and bottom rows are completely straight when they were horrible crooked before, my left bite is perfect ,and my right bite still has gaps but is improving. My dentist said that if my teeth can move that fast in two months, he doesn't think I will need them for two years. What do you professionals, or just people who have been through this, think?

Honestly, it is nice that your teeth and surrounding bone are agreeable to the braces. My teeth were harder to move, while my husband's were a breeze (we were both adults and in braces at the time). However, even though you might not need them for two years and they already look tons better you might still need alot of "tweaking". This may make you frustrated since you aren't seeing any major changes. Also, if teeth are moved too quickly it will make the roots resorb, so you end up with short unstable roots of the teeth, so be patient. I trust that your orthodontist has plenty of experience?

So as a dental hygienist and former ortho patient I would say be patient, but know mine only took 18 months

MUCH DEPENDS ON THE OPINION OF THE ORTHODONTIST. IF HE SAYS 2 YEARS, THEN IT'S 2 YEARS.
Reply:Jamrdh is correct. You may think they are straight and look like they are, but your bite or occlusion will need lots of "slight" movements to get each tooth into the correct position. Be patient and do your part keeping appointments, following instructions and making sure to spend the extra time on excellent hygiene so when they are removed you'll have a beautiful smile to be proud of when you show it off. You very well may get them off early with good progress and effort on your part too. It's been done before, but not too often. Good luck and keep up the good work!
Reply:i had to have mine on for just over 3 years!! and even tho you think its great and they're straight and you might think you don't need to wear your retainer cuz they're fine, DO IT. i ruined over 3 years worth of dental work cuz i didn't wear my retainer enough and my teeth slowly shifted back out of place. im pissed but i have no one to blame but myself. so don't make that mistake when the day comes to finally get yours off. as you mentioned your teeth moved quickly into a prettier place, so make sure you wear that retainer so they cement back that way :)
