Do you think the media, puts alot of pressure on women to look perfect?

i look at music videos in like the early 90's. ppl had crooked stain teeth, a little over weight, thick eyebrows hardly any makeup. You can see all kinds of flaws but everyone seen them as sexy and beautiful. Now it's like if your teeth aren't perfectly straight white, perfect figure, You cant have any flaws... at all. People now days are so superfical i think i look attractive but i have all kinds of flaws... I was so suprise to see someone with flaws on tv now days... Its driving me crazy... not to be perfect but to see someone in the media with a zit or something... without implants that arent gay either? anyone agree or am i just dumb?

Do you think the media, puts alot of pressure on women to look perfect?
I agree everyone must be perfect*rolls eyes** well screw that who decides what is perfect and what's not.I do my own thing with my make up and hair the media can just kiss my @ss
Reply:Thanks meow indeed!:D ha ha lol thanks%26lt;3 Report It

Reply:yeah, i really think so. i agree totally...
Reply:Yeah- I agree 100%-ly... I mean, it's really bad now- cuse' it's making teens do it too!!! (Personal Experience- Last year when I was 12, I became anorexic, looking at Nicole Richie, and how "perfect" she is) WHY IS THE WORLD GOING SO CRAZY THESE DAYS?!?!?!?
Reply:Women in the media who look "normal" (i.e. not anorexic looking) are always scrutinzed for looking that way. It's backwards.
Reply:I agree, yes. The results are: boulimia, anorexia, plastic surgery... That is awful. That is why I am always on a diet just because... I don;t know.,.. That is the impact! Those silly guys always follow those "rules of TV" and require dont know what from girl's appearance. Not everyone, fortunately/..
Reply:There is this one hot girl who appears on TV in my country, and she looks perfect until she opens her mouth--- and then you get to see her long, crooked teeth that's half grey, too. Well, she's the only one like that for all others look too perfect to be real. But, this girl....well, she's different. And, I don't even know why she still has that job, but I admire her confidence to be on the limelight with those teeth, even though she looks a trifle too conscious about her looks otherwise. LOL.

Yes, there is enough pressure to look perfect even here, but I think it's worse in America.
Reply:I agree with you. It's not only the media but, drug companies, doctors, dentists, etc.....

They know by repeatedly telling you that there is something "wrong" with you, most people will want to correct the "fault", even though one may not even exist.

Why do women feel they "need" breast implants, wrinkle removers, dyed hair, impossibly white teeth, etc...? It's because they develop low self esteem from watching all the stupid ads.

The companies are out to make money on their products and by convincing you that you "need" their products, you run out and buy them to "improve" whatever fault the product is supposed to correct.
Reply:i definitely agree. its crazy now days. these poor kids look up to these ppl. with the media constantly bombarding us with info on who wearing what or who looks like what, it makes their lives that much harder. most willing to do whatever it takes to fit in with the rest of the crowd. even if it means drastic measures. that's the saddest part. they end up hurting what they worked so hard for.
Reply:no you're not dumb

yes,i think indirectly there is more pressure on actors/actresses to look flawless

i mean even if they have put on weight due to understandable reasons like childbirth, illness,it would still make the cover of a magazine

i guess with more %26amp; more forms of media coming up (now there are even internet talkshows) as well as more media companies (magazine, newspapers etc)coming up, there is stiff competition %26amp; many are so hard pressed to get anything controversial or attention-grabbing

another thing could be the technology its more advanced these days

i mean the camera can zoom in more times on that zit %26amp; it would look humongous if you watch it in your flat screen tv
Reply:of course i do. its so true.like in all the adverts and mags and popstars are all skinny and tall and now all the boys have stereotyped women to look like paris hilton or cameron diaz... which no most women do not have a bad like that... blue eyes and blond hair... so us... that havent got wot i just said feel left out. i think i am quite good lookin and stuff but i have got a bit of a tummy and that is my downfall. i am not skinny.... so... we are well... F.U.C.K.E.D but that is so unfair
Reply:yes i do and i am not a women they do it by have all the 40 and 50 year old women that look like they are 20 and stuff
Reply:hell yeah! even the yahoo avatars. look at their version of plus size women.
Reply:Absolutely!!!
Reply:Hmm definitely. But I've heard countless stories of people actually meeting celebrities and getting shell-shocked at how unglam they are in reality. A lot of it is just photoshop work. Computer editing can do miracles nowadays.

Also, i suppose that it IS true that many celebs are super skinny, but I think that even then they only look glam because they are properly styled up. I have seen people recovering from anorexia in normal clothing and school uniforms and frankly, and i really really hope that they get healthier fast because being stick thin is just plain scary.

Also, much of the beauty on TV is artificial. It's amazing how much proper make-up can do!

There are of course much more healthier, natural looking celebs out there.
