How can I tell my boyfriend to get his teeth fixed without hurting his feelings?

My boyfriend is a very funny guy who likes to laugh at all times. He is a wonderful person and has a great smile, except that some of his teeth are missing! When he laughs the blanks are very visible and he tries to cover it up with his lips so that I wouldn't be able to see it. I have the feeling that he feels very uncomfortable and insecure at times about this. I would like to draw his attention to his teeth without hurting his feelings. I'm sure that with a perfect smile he won't be embarassed anymore and have a lot more self confidence. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Wow... tough one, without offending him!





MAYBE the next you two are 'alone'.. and your laughing about something, and you notice this cover up thing he does with his lips... ask him why he does that? And if he tells you... then suggest a idea you may have about him going and doing something.





Have to remember though, think first. You wouldnt want to offend him in any way.. so be careful. Also remember, dental work isnt cheap.. he may just not have the money for it.





**I will tell you though... theres Dental/ Health Credit cards, out there called 'Unicorn' and one called 'Care Credit'.... that are strickly for Dental and Health related use only. It also offers a 12 month interest free program! Maybe something for your bf to look into. Theres a website you can go too. Apply on line, and go to your local dentist and get him started on that smile........ It's worth it!
Reply:Get one of your friends to tell him instead. Otherwise, put him on Yahoo Answers and we'll all tell him!
Reply:Maybe he can't afford it. Buy him a card and tell him how much you care for him, and have a type of gift certificate in there to a cosmetic dentist place and tell him it is your gift to him because you love to see him smile!
Reply:Yes. Make a dentist appointment for yourself to get your teeth (routinely) checked and ask him to go along with you...Then while u r there, suggest to him that he gets his checked as well.
Reply:There is no good way. Just do it. He needs to get teeth fixed for health reasons, beside cosmetic.Also he will feel so much more confident..

Either offer to pay for it, or don"t mention it at all.

Reply:I think it is probably he doesn't have dental insurance or the cash to pay for it. Tell him how EXTRA handsome he would be if he got his teeth fixed and wouldn't have to cover his mouth. If it is a cash problem talk with him about and find a solution. If he has insurance then he is scared of dentists and that can also be worked out.
