Braces Removal: Do they shave your teeth down?

Do they shave your teeth down when you get your braces removed to make them look perfect? Because my sister said she had that done, but I got mine off and they have not done anything and my teeth are still messed up, like on the bottom I have a tooth that is bigger then the rest and is VERY noticable.. What can I do? Do I have to go to the dentist? or is it the orthodontists responsibility???

I searched everywhere and havent found a question like this so, Any help will do thanks!

Braces Removal: Do they shave your teeth down?
Hi :)

I just got my braces off last week and my orthodontist did some minor polishing, mainly edges to make them look more even. He also rounded (by polishing) the two upper teeth that are kinda pointy (3rd ones from the front).... So for me, he did make them look more even and nicer after the braces came off.... but again, it wasn't anything major, just fine tuning. If you're still going to your ortho visits as part of the retention phase of your treatment, perhaps you can point that out and ask if he/she can do something for you.
Reply:No, just the glue. Sometimes they'll make a minor correction to the bite, but that's about it
Reply:Generally, they will never 'shave your teeth down' as a routine part of removing braces. If there is adhesive remaining on the teeth, they will grind it off, but the dentist probably won't cut into the tooth itself. Doing this would weaken the enamel, and make that part of your tooth more prone to cavities.

It's also important to remember that the part of the tooth under the bracket is immune from any discoloration that happened to the rest of the tooth while the braces were being worn. Often, decalcification (white spots) occur around the bracket, and a darker spot is revealed in the middle when the brackets are removed. There is very little that can be done to correct this, and all possible remedies will weaken the tooth.

If one tooth is actually "bigger", it would help to know how so. Is it wider from front to back? Does it protrude farther? It's really impossible to know what can be done without seeing it.
