Is teeth health also based on genetics??

I don%26#039;t understand.. I brush my teeth all the time, my boyfriend brushes here and there, I floss everyday, he rarely does. We both eat the same things but he drinks way more sodas than me, how come I always have cavaties and problems and he has never had one?? His teeth are perfect and pearly white! Does it have something to do with genetics also?

Is teeth health also based on genetics??
Color, strength, and alignment of teeth are all genetic. Some people are naturally born with white, straight teeth etc. The strength of the enamel is also genetic. There is a certain defect of the enamel known as %26quot;soft teeth%26quot;, where a person%26#039;s enamel is very brittle and weak. People with this condition are highly prone to cavities. Of course, %26quot;soft teeth%26quot; is known as a very extreme case of what many people suffer from, just having weaker enamel than others. I know how you feel, I brush and floss well every day, yet I still get cavities, but on the other hand my older brother eats junk, and barely brushes and NEVER flosses, yet he%26#039;s only had one cavity.

Hope this helps :D

Reply:yeah its genetics get some mouthwash that strenghtens teeth i use it occasionally and i already notice a difference
Reply:excellent question but one thing I know is that some people are more prone to cavities than others...for example I brush, don%26#039;t eat to much sugar, and take care of my teeth and get cavaties...my brother eats all the junk food twinkies, gatorade, never brushes like 1 time a week and has 0 cavaties...thats 1 thing I know is that some people get cavaties easily others just don%26#039;t.
Reply:Yes, it can be with genetics. That happens to me also, my friends drink/eat a but load of pop, sugar, %26amp; candy. But just keeping them clean %26amp; healthy will help you out in the long run.
Reply:sure
Reply:this is really a good question!!

there is no topic in dental books talking about this, but i really have noticed that there is some kind of relation between both of them coz i start cleaning my teeth when i was in high school , and i have no dental probelms now(thank god)

i%26#039;de like to know if anyone here knows any web site or page about this subject..
