I thought we fought and won a war against the idea of a so-called 'perfect race'?

So why is it that everyone seems to be under pressure to be more %26#039;perfect%26#039; than ever? Perfect teeth , perfect hair/skin, perfect routine, perfect exam results, perfect job/partner/housewife , grrrr!

I thought we fought and won a war against the idea of a so-called %26#039;perfect race%26#039;?
Because they let themselves be under that pressure. Who is pressuring you, and what power do they really have over you that moves you to buckle under it? I am what I am....take me or leave me....perfect only in my imperfections. The more %26quot;perfect%26quot; you are in terms of media/societal perception the more people will set out to see you fail....so why would you try to be perfect anyway?
Reply:thats the perfect question..
Reply:honestly,i have no idea.....bloody awful though isn`t it?.
Reply:You must be american............ us brits dont give a F*ck.
Reply:Consumerism and targeted marketing. Magazines (both mens and womens) that promote the 36-24-36 blonde. Music marketed to 14 year-olds about how good it is to be a sl*t. Celebrities with implants. Fake teeth. The Corporations. The Media. Paid Advertising on billboards. Capitalism.

Maybe its Maybelline.
Reply:its all the effects of media, they show you all these perfect people on tv and magazine covers, and it just pressures you to be perfect, its kind of subliminal messaging
Reply:wars don%26#039;t diminish the free will of a sinner.
Reply:Although people try to perfect themselves they are not trying to create a single race comprised of all perfectly alike people. We still differ in Hair, eye, skin color, style, opinions, dress, religion etc..
Reply:Your question is totally illogical being as the pressure to be perfect has nothing to do with wars and race. Grrrrrr!
Reply:%26quot;History repeating itself%26quot;! You have hit it right on the head. This country, and many others, are ripe for revolution. I hope against hope that it does not throw up such leaders as Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot or Kim Il Jong/Sun/Moon or whatever his name is.
Reply:The pictures featured in those glossy magazines are all touched up to remove the imperfections and as for those models on infomercials, most have never been fat in their life.

As for me, I am overweight, hairy and proud of every year of my life, thank God.
Reply:A person with perfect teeth may have flawed hair; a person with perfect exam scores may have acne. No one person is perfect.

Perfection is the oposite of completion. It is important to become a complete person. Perfection is un-acheivable, whereas completion is achievable and we should take it as an obligation to ourselves to become a complete person.

How? We all get to decide that for ourselves. Others, with their perfect hair/teeth/car, don%26#039;t decide those things for us, and we should not permit others to make those decisions for us.

We don%26#039;t have to be good at everything, just a few things. What few things? We get to decide that for oursevles also. What ever we enjoy doing, whoever we enjoy being, we should be good at it, and always striving to do better.
Reply:because one person starts it and the rest have to follow suit!

in making others feel the need too be the so-called perfect what ever? who get the name BULLY%26#039;S!

and times are changing so some people do some times try and take a bit of pride in their appearance!
Reply:TRue. And I wonder that myself.

We live in a society where beauty the outward is more important than intelligence or innner beauty.

^Another important factor of divorce.PEople date people because their %26quot;hot.%26quot; Magically did they know that outward beauty fades...then the same thing happens to the marriage/relationship.
Reply:u thought wrong,re-conceder ur thoughts...........
