Why do people always assume that people from Britain (England mainly) have really bad teeth?

my teeth are perfect and I am from England. All my teeth are straight, white, no fillings or anything. So why do people always assume this? It is so humilating

Why do people always assume that people from Britain (England mainly) have really bad teeth?
Well, look at famous british people%26#039;s teeth. I saw Stephen Fry%26#039;s the other day, not pretty. But not as bad as even older british celebrities.

I do think there is some truth to it though.
Reply:Its a stereotype here in the States. I%26#039;m not sure where it comes from but you see it everywhere.

Can i have invisialign in only my front bottom 4 teeth are crooked. I feel that they are more crooked then b4?

i wonder if i can get invisialight to just straighten those out. the rest of my teeth are perfect.

Can i have invisialign in only my front bottom 4 teeth are crooked. I feel that they are more crooked then b4?
Yes, but you still have to wear a full lower tray.
Reply:yes invisialign has and express system that is for the anterior teeth only or the upper or lower only. it is 10 aligners or less. a consultation will determine if your a candidate for this or not.
Reply:Most definitely but there is a more cost effective way of treating your lower anterior crowding. I%26#039;d ask around for an Orthodontist who uses the Red, White and Blue system. They, too, are clear aligners and their turnaround time is faster than Invisalign%26#039;s.

Invisalign works but so does AOA%26#039;s Red, White and Blue system!

Not all Americans think that. It%26#039;s just a stupid stereotype.

How do I get rid of the Small gap in my front two teeth?

I have this small gap in my front two teeth. I%26#039;m 13 years old and don%26#039;t want braces because all of my other teeth are perfect and straight it%26#039;s just the small gap in my front two teeth. Is there any way to get rid of it without braces?

How do I get rid of the Small gap in my front two teeth?
I had a space between my front teeth that i had filled with cosmetic bonding. The space was filled and shaped with tooth colored material, and looks very natural and was painless. Having veneers done is also an option, but for a 13 yr old bonding may be best for now.
Reply:nope sorry to say braces are the only thing that would be able to that, your dentist might be able to do something bedside braces, maybe a retained, or something i would talk to your parents and have them take you to the dentist and ask him.
Reply:I had the same prob I%26#039;m 15 i went 2 the dentist and they filled it in. it was painless so ask mom and go to the dentist and ask many ?s im sure u can get a better thing done than braces.

Is it alright for me to brush my teeth for 10 mins each session, 3 times a day?

My teeth arent perfect so I%26#039;m listining to my ipod and brushing my teeth for a half hour a day, is this bad? I just started doing this today

Is it alright for me to brush my teeth for 10 mins each session, 3 times a day?
Too much brushing can wear on the teeth, and inflame your gums. If you%26#039;re worried about your teeth, try brushing and flossing after each meal (but only for 2 mins!) and rinsing with a mouthwash. You can make one at home by adding a teaspoon of baking soda and a dash of salt to a cup of warm water.
Reply:If you brush to frequently for too long you will wear off the enamel and that%26#039;s not good.
Reply:Yes, you%26#039;re going to wear away your enamel quickly, and cause recession of your gums.

You should brush for 2 minutes, 2 times a day, upon waking, and before bed (you can brush in the middle of the day too, but the recommended amount is only 2 times a day for 2 minutes)
Reply:If you brush too much or too hard, you can have gum recession, which doesn%26#039;t sound too bad, but it hurts. Let me tell you - when the gum is pushed back like that, the skin that is exposed is super sensitive and it hurts. And you can%26#039;t undo that. Follow the directions of the answers above.
Reply:Brushing for more than 2min at a time is inadvisable because it wears down enamel, the most important part of a tooth. Usually brush once in the morning, once after lunch and dinner. you can substitite it with mouthwash. Also do not use hard bristles and dont forget to brush the insides of your teeth.

I have a 1mm gap between my front teeth, what should I do to fix them?

I%26#039;m 15 and I have a large gap in my front teeth. When I was young it didn%26#039;t matter but now that I%26#039;m in my teens I%26#039;m self conscious and I hate it. All the rest of my teeth are perfect, I don%26#039;t want to get braces if all the rest of my teeth are fine. Is there any other way I could fix them, perminate ways that would look natural.

I have a 1mm gap between my front teeth, what should I do to fix them?
a 1 mm gap doesnt seem very big. but i gess you could get them capped if its bugging you that bad. it adds character and is somthing people remember you by.

even if its that kid with the gap, they remember you rather then being just another kid with normal teeth
Reply:Gap cannot be fixed easily. Teeth cannot be mended that easily. If it affects your personality, then try a Dentist who can suggest removal and transplantation of new teeth. But that is costly
Reply:Invisalign may work for you.

See your Orthodontists.

No need to waste plenty of money on braces for a simple gap.
Reply:Braces seem like a big solution for a small problem. Capping would probably be the easiest, painless, most cost efficient way to go. They can make a small mold and then fit the cap with two aligned teeth. Best of luck.

Is it ever okay to keep your wisdom teeth in.?

i have had my wisdom teeth and the dentist says they can stay in. my teeth are perfect. if i opt to remove them (less chance for cavities) will my teeth start seperating, due to more room in the mouth, or will they stay straight and pull to the front. if i keep them in will they become crooked and tight?

Is it ever okay to keep your wisdom teeth in.?
I think you should only remove you wisdom teeth if there is no room for them. Most cases then not, that%26#039;s what happens. If there are posing no problems and you mouth has room then don%26#039;t mess with it! You don%26#039;t want to end up regreting it.........man it can be painful!
Reply:yeah al long as it dosnt hurt but if it dose get them out it can cause movement and then you will have to get braces
Reply:all the bad things you have ever heard is false. keeping your wisdom teeth is fine, nothing will happen. just remember to brush them good or you will have cavities.
Reply:it%26#039;s okay if they are not causing any problems. it%26#039;s an old wives tale and very profitable for dentists that people have their wisdom teeth removed. It%26#039;s actually on a case by case basis.
Reply:If your teeth are perfect then leave them alone...don%26#039;t mess with perfection.
Reply:If they aren%26#039;t causing you any problems and they%26#039;re healthy, there is no need to remove them. Just because most people need to have them out, for one reason or another, that doesn%26#039;t mean you do. You are fortunate in this. Removing them would have implications, you%26#039;re right.
Reply:the wisdom teeth can stay in as long as they%26#039;re not coming in crooked or if they%26#039;re not infected. mine had to be removed because the roots wrapped around the nerve, which caused them to start coming in sideways.
Reply:Keep them in if the doctor says so. Mine were impacted and were causing headaches so they had to be removed.

I think you be fine.
Reply:If the dentist says leave them then just keep them. If you have them taken out you could have complications from the removal that you dont need to risk since the dentist said leave them in.
Reply:If they already fully in and the dentist says they%26#039;re okay, then leave them. If you%26#039;re worried, get a second opinion. I had to remove mines because they were impacted and causing overcrowding because I had no room.

Thank you! I thought it was just me that thought that. I%26#039;m sorry I don%26#039;t know the answer to this question, I was just glad to see someone else noticed it, too.

Reply:Who knows? Isn%26#039;t her baby teeth still falling out?
Reply:she is a child whose teeth are still coming in..in the movies they use dental plates and cosmetics...people in movies and tv have lots of cosmetic crap that enhances their looks

Gap between two front teeth?

Is there any way to fix the gap between my two front teeth without getting braces? All my teeth are perfect and straight because the gap. What can I do to fix it?

Gap between two front teeth?
I think braces or any kind of dental correction will only fix it.

If you do not like braces, try invisalign.
Reply:Braces, i had the same thing when i was young. Perfect teeth except the gap, It may be painful for a while but trust me, it is worth it in the long run.
Reply:You could go with the more expensive dental surgery or invisalign.

Invisialign will get the job done, but at a much slower rate than traditional braces. It%26#039;s also like twice as expensive and very high maintenance.

I think to get the best results at the quickest time, get ceramic braces (clear braces).
Reply:you%26#039;ll have to have some orthodontic work or appliance of some kind (braces or retainer).

i think gaps are endearing - a trademark like arnold!!
Reply:You can get it %26quot;filled%26quot; in...The dentist can add some type of dental composite, shape it, and fill in the gap
Reply:Leave your mouth alone. If you have nice teeth, the gap gives them character. (like the model Lauren Hutton) You could get caps. They will look nice for a while, but you will always see a line at the gums as they age. And unless you cap all the teeth, you will have trouble with your natural teeth changing color and your caps being too white to match.
Reply:I would go with either Invisilign, or depending on the size of the diastema (the gap), having a dentist do a little %26quot;bonding%26quot; to close the gap. Personally I would steer clear of anything that permanently removes healthy tooth structure such as veneers or crowns. I know alot of people who just accept it and learn to love it!! Another thing to consider is whitening....I have found that a person who has a clean, white smile is happier even if their teeth have a gap or are even crooked. Just whitening alone can build up your self-confidence tremendously!!! Just a thought!
Reply:Hi there,

I have a gap too. I went to a specialist and he said that I can have those two teeth bonded to fill in the gap. I have seen this done and it looks great but it could be costly. The only other drawback beside cost is that you shouldn%26#039;t bite on anything very hard because in some rare cases it could crack or break.
Reply:Yeah, a diastema closure can be done with composite, which is basically the white tooth filling material. The color will be matched to your natural tooth color and the gap is basically just filled it. it may make your teeth look a little wider but the dentist can always do a trial one on you and you can see if you like it. There is no drilling or anything with this procedure so its easy goin for you. The drawbacks are that yes it may fracture if excessive force is applied, but it can be fixed, and that you cant bleach your teeth because the composite wont change, although if you really wanted to one day they could remove it and replace it if you wanted to pay the extra.

Why are SOME people blessed with "good teeth"?

I know a few people that have never or rarely had professional oral care and they%26#039;re teeth look %26quot;perfect%26quot;. One or two cavities, straight teeth, never a major problem with their teeth.

And then there are people like me who have suffered w/dental problems despite seeing a dentist on a regular basis.

Is it soley based on one%26#039;s diet? Or do genes play a role too?

Why are SOME people blessed with %26quot;good teeth%26quot;?
It%26#039;s a combination of genetics and hygeine. There are some people who have terrible teeth because they simply do not brush their teeth, floss, and constantly eat sugary foods. Others may take excellent care of their teeth, yet their genetic makeup determined the strength, size, proportion, and order of their teeth. It sucks... but no fault lies in the second person I described. It%26#039;s just the way it is.
Reply:just lucky i guess.

my boyfriend is like that...never had braces..and has the prettiest teeth youve ever seen in ur life
Reply:It%26#039;s all about genes- and it%26#039;s funny cause I knew some people whose parents were dentists, and of course, they were born with perfect teeth!
Reply:I think its genetics. My teeth are beautiful. White, straight.. perfect? Not really. I have 25 fillings and one pulled molar. Now my dentist wants all 4 of my wisdoms pulled! So even though I have teeth that look like teeth hilary duff would kill for, they arent so perfect. Just because someone has nice looking teeth doesnt mean anything.

I am sorry you have so many problems with your mouth. Welcome to my world =(
Reply:It has to do with genes. Most of the time during pregnancy if a mother gets a lot of calcium the child%26#039;s teeth should be very healthy.
Reply:Genes play a major role. Especially if your parents are very diffent and have different sized heads. If your jaw structure and your teeth dont mix (one is too big or too small) then your teeth will be crooked or unevenly placed. All you can do about it is braces.

What you CAN do is brush your teeth, eat right and keep them as clean as possible.
Reply:no sugar no drugs and not too much toothpaste
Reply:It sounds like you%26#039;re talking about my daughters! their teeth are so straight that people often ask them if they%26#039;ve had braces. And they%26#039;re very white and they%26#039;ve only had 2 tiny cavities.

I think it%26#039;s got more to do with genes than diet.
Reply:I%26#039;m sure it is a combination of genetics, hygiene and diet. But the people with perfect teeth may pay later. I have nice straight teeth, had a few cavities filled when I was young but never needed any orthodontic work and hadn%26#039;t gone to a dentist for 15 years. I had no toothaches or anything, then, within a few months at age 58, two teeth literally fell apart, two more needed root canals and I still need to get two more crowned and some fillings.
Reply:Some genetics and some nutrition.

The higher your acid the more cavity prone you will be. (to address the part of their health you CAN effect)

The more alkaline your body the better. You can get inexpensive pH test strips at your health store to monitor it.
Reply:I never had professional work done on my teeth other then take the two in the back out... Mine came out straight... I never really get cavities either... But my sister is just the oppsite of me.. So I have no doubt that some people are blessed by God...
Reply:I know, my sister has always been much more lax on her own oral care and hygiene and has had only two fillings by 21, and yet I have a mouth full of work and soon to have more. Sucks I had to get the bad dental genes. : (
Reply:It%26#039;s a combination of genetics and hygeine. For instance, you have no control over what shape your teeth are or how they come in, whether they are straight or not. That%26#039;s all in the genes. Only braces can put them in place if they are not already. However, if you get cavities, root canals, gum disease, really yellow teeth, etc. That%26#039;s not genetic. That%26#039;s just poor hygeine/diet. A good calcium intake along with proper care should keep any teeth looking pretty white.
Reply:Genetics, good parenting, immaculate oral hygiene, and non-abusive eating; all this will keep dentists at bay.

Do I HAVE to get braces on both top and bottom teeth of my mouth?

My bottom teeth are pretty crowded, but my top teeth are perfect. Some people even ask me if I%26#039;ve ever gotten braces on my top teeth. So, I was wondering, is it possible that I only get braces on my bottom teeth, and not the top? My friend has braces on her bottom teeth and not top, but my dentist (for some reason) says that I have to have braces on both top and bottom teeth. Someone please help!

Do I HAVE to get braces on both top and bottom teeth of my mouth?
Sometimes even when your top teeth seem perfect, your orthodontist may need to correct your molar relationship, or cuspid relationship. If your bite needs correction then it%26#039;s best to do both arches sweetie. Go ahead and talk to him about it some more. Make sure you understand why you need upper and lower taken care of. Good luck!
Reply:Why does the dentist say you need top braces? Is it because of an overbite or what? You get braces on top and on the bottom because there is a reason so if your dentist didn%26#039;t tell you why then call up and ask him. They don%26#039;t do it without a reason.
Reply:no you shouldn%26#039;t have to. I only had braces on the top. Unless there is some clinical reason he is wanting you to get them, I would say no. It%26#039;ll be alot cheaper!
Reply:Most likely no. Unless there is an issue with how your teeth bite together.
Reply:Honestly, it depends on your bite. When your bottom teeth are crowded and the top teeth look perfect, but there isn%26#039;t enough room to uncrowd the bottom teeth without messing up the top teeth in the process. If your Dentist/Orthodontist says you need braces on the top, then you do, even if it is just to make sure they stay straight.

Sorry, but it really depends on the person if they should have braces on both the top and bottom or just top or bottom.
Reply:well they are prob doing the top to make sure your bite is correct. Otherwise it would be off.

I was chewing some toffee and i felt 1 of my teeth move!!? It happend 1 week ago!!!!!?

I looked in the back of my mouth, on the upper jaw, in the upper left quadrant and one of the tooths has moved out of position! before they were all perfectly straight and one is at an angle and misaligned with respect to the others! there is a gap between the adjacent tooth and food is getting stuck in there!! and the other adjacent tooth is hard to floss in between as the gap has become much smaller!!!! What should i do !!! Is this normal??

Also i wear a night guard on the upper teeth and it still fits although not as snug and it feels tender around the tooth that was moved when i wear it!!! HELP!

I had braces for 5 years and visit the dentist every 6 months and i paid a lot of money and my teeth were PERFECT before this!!

I was chewing some toffee and i felt 1 of my teeth move!!? It happend 1 week ago!!!!!?
You need to wear your night guard as your doctor instructed you to. If your are going to the Dr every six months and are following his or her directions then maybe you fractured your tooth. teeth don%26#039;t move all at once it takes time for them to move and if you noticed that amount of space change in one day I would get to the dentist quick.
Reply:maybe there is too much space around the tooth or your teeth are loose from wearing the night guard so they move easily
Reply:Schedule an appointment with your dentist to make sure that it is nothing serious. That happened to me, it turns out my tooth was loose and it fell out a week afterward. However, I was 7. I don%26#039;t know if all your teeth fell out and all your %26quot;grown-up teeth%26quot; have grown in, but if they haven%26#039;t, that could be a solution. Just be careful putting on the night guard... follow your dentist%26#039;s instructions and you should be fine.

How much were your braces? ( Upper teeth only )?

how much did it cost you to get your Braces for UPPER TEETH ONLY? Without insurance.

I have the same problem, except my front teeth have a slight gap between them. When I looked into it, I was told it would be somewhere around $3,500 to $4,000 for braces. If you can find them for a cheaper price than that, I%26#039;d love to know. I really want braces.
Reply:Just for the top, it was about $2,500. Overall, i paid $3,200 with a discount from my insurance. I still haven%26#039;t gottten braces though. Getting htem on December 4th.

Are crooked teeth really terrible?
Well, I know you must be self conscious about it. Nice teeth are important but what%26#039;s more important is self confidence. A smile looks pretty on anyone, crooked teeth or not. You are unique!
Reply:I personally think it gives people character. My best friend has crooked teeth and I was kinda sad she is getting them strighten because they really do not look bad.
Reply:your teeth define your health. have your dad talk to your orthodontist about a payment plan. good oral hygeine and treatment is a great gift your father can give you.
Reply:dont worry most americans get braces WAY too early. give your teeth some time to grow and mature

Small gap in front teeth...cute or no?

What do you guys think about a girl that has a small gap in her top two front teeth? Is it cute, sexy, or whatever? Or is it totally retarded? The reason I ask is because I%26#039;m 15, and all my friends teeth are perfect. Mine are straight, but theres just that small gap in them. Do people even notice teeth gaps? Thanks in advance.

Small gap in front teeth...cute or no?
if its small no big deal like if they dont touch at all then yea u need some corrective dentistry
Reply:Most people won%26#039;t notice, only those who are looking and their opinion isn%26#039;t worth a cent.

Do you like it? If you do, then it is cute, and sexy.

I think flaws are what make people beautiful, and I%26#039;m sure it looks fine! I%26#039;m not a guy, though but most won%26#039;t worry about it unless they%26#039;re only worried about appearances and superficial beauty. If you are really worried, you can go to an orthodontist and see about getting it fixed.

We all have something, some people just insist on hiding it to apply to what they think are society%26#039;s standards (usually based on media.) I think you should be proud out it like I am of my front teeth that don%26#039;t quite match. Haha! ;)
Reply:actually, sometimes it can be cute. If you put pictures up, we could tell. Some people may find me retarded, but I don%26#039;t like perfect teeth. There%26#039;s no character to them...nothing unique.
Reply:My take is, if your teeth are straight, white, but have a tiny gap, it provides a lot of character. Therefore yes, I think such a tiny gap is cute, on a male or a female.

Is teeth health also based on genetics??

I don%26#039;t understand.. I brush my teeth all the time, my boyfriend brushes here and there, I floss everyday, he rarely does. We both eat the same things but he drinks way more sodas than me, how come I always have cavaties and problems and he has never had one?? His teeth are perfect and pearly white! Does it have something to do with genetics also?

Is teeth health also based on genetics??
Color, strength, and alignment of teeth are all genetic. Some people are naturally born with white, straight teeth etc. The strength of the enamel is also genetic. There is a certain defect of the enamel known as %26quot;soft teeth%26quot;, where a person%26#039;s enamel is very brittle and weak. People with this condition are highly prone to cavities. Of course, %26quot;soft teeth%26quot; is known as a very extreme case of what many people suffer from, just having weaker enamel than others. I know how you feel, I brush and floss well every day, yet I still get cavities, but on the other hand my older brother eats junk, and barely brushes and NEVER flosses, yet he%26#039;s only had one cavity.

Hope this helps :D

Reply:yeah its genetics get some mouthwash that strenghtens teeth i use it occasionally and i already notice a difference
Reply:excellent question but one thing I know is that some people are more prone to cavities than others...for example I brush, don%26#039;t eat to much sugar, and take care of my teeth and get cavaties...my brother eats all the junk food twinkies, gatorade, never brushes like 1 time a week and has 0 cavaties...thats 1 thing I know is that some people get cavaties easily others just don%26#039;t.
Reply:Yes, it can be with genetics. That happens to me also, my friends drink/eat a but load of pop, sugar, %26amp; candy. But just keeping them clean %26amp; healthy will help you out in the long run.
Reply:sure

there is no topic in dental books talking about this, but i really have noticed that there is some kind of relation between both of them coz i start cleaning my teeth when i was in high school , and i have no dental probelms now(thank god)

i%26#039;de like to know if anyone here knows any web site or page about this subject..

Plant question

Question about fixing teeth?

My 2 front teeth SLIGHTLY over lap each other. You can%26#039;t really notice it. They have been like that since I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I dont want braces.. mainly because I cant afford them without insurance, and Im 27 years old and would look stupid with them. But If i had insurance, i would definitely get braces no matter how stupid i looked.

IS there a way to have them fixed without braces or without getting fake teeth or veneers?

I heard of invisiline, but thats probably even more expensive, and I heard its not for everyone.

The rest of my teeth are perfect

please help. thanks!

Question about fixing teeth?
are you me???? my two front teeth were the same - sounds like it anyway. i left them until i needed crowns on them and then - did the crowns. you might be able to find an old school dentist would could make you a retainer with wires in it - they shift and push the teeth into position. i had one when i was a kid and didnt use it like i was supposed too so....

good luck!
Reply:umm ur not really leaving many options...if you cant afford braces there isnt any other %26quot;cheap%26quot; fix...sorry.....get braces....if all of ur other teeth are straight you wont have to have them on very long... braces are like $100 a month...thats not too bad....
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard from my dentist that invisilign doesn%26#039;t work very well. perhaps retainers?
Reply:If your case is suitable, Invisalign works great and may cost less than traditional braces. Only a well-qualified Invisalign provider can tell you if it will work for you.

Payment plans are available. If this is something you really want, you will find a way to pay for it.

You say, %26quot;you can%26#039;t really notice it%26quot;...but obviously you want it changed. Maybe it%26#039;s just something that makes you special and you don%26#039;t want to fix it.

Go get a few professional opinions. I%26#039;d suggest contacting a general dentist who is experienced with Invisalign. Unlike orthodontists, they may suggest a few alternatives to moving teeth.

If I put back in my retainer, will it straighten my teeth?

I had braces from August 2003 to April of 2006. My teeth were perfect when I got my braces off, and of course I got a retainer. I wore it at first. I actually wore it a lot more than most kids. At night, for months. Sometimes during the day. I forget when I completely stopped wearing it but it%26#039;s been a while since I wore it. Now my teeth are still straight except for one tooth that seems to have moved over a little. It%26#039;s next to one of my front teeth. It%26#039;s not that noticeable; mainly to me. It seems to just slightly be overcrowding one of my two front teeth. If I put in my retainer after not doing it for a few months, will it help? They still fit but they%26#039;re tight. Will they help push my teeth back into place again, or could it cause the tooth to go in even further? Anyone that knows anything about orthodontics or just has experience...let me know please. I don%26#039;t wanna make my tooth overcrowd the other one just for wearing my old retainer, that would suck...

If I put back in my retainer, will it straighten my teeth?
If you%26#039;re able to put up with the uncomfortableness of putting it back in....the longer you wear it, the less uncomfortable it will be. It gently brings it back into alignment. If it%26#039;s painful or you feel like you really have to force it, then go to your orthodontist and have them make a new retainer.....then wear it !! Your teeth will always relapse somewhat, unless you wear the retainer. It doesn%26#039;t have to be every day, but if you want perfectly straight teeth, then keep up with wearing it.
Reply:it would be a very good idea to wear your retainers again even the slightest shift can get even worse, so the best thing to do is just simply wear it even if you forget, 2-3 times a week is just enough for your teeth to be fine
Reply:if just a weeks the retainer was out of ur mouth, it%26#039;s fine to wear it... and it may re correct ur tooth...

but to be more scientific u have to have your teeth examined by ur orthodontist... please don%26#039;t satisfy from our answers in here..... it%26#039;s your teeth not a jok.....................

Will any new teeth grow after sixteen...?

does any new teeth grow after 16. I want to have fitted a proper brace to make my teeth be perfect (private), in shap and all. But i am planning on getting 2 or more teeth removed too have more space for the rest to be in shape. Would you think it is a waste of time to get it done when im sixteen. And any idea about the price of such braces as they are not under NHS in england. thank you

Will any new teeth grow after sixteen...?
Most people will get wisdom teeth after 16. See your dentist. It%26#039;s possible they may already be coming in, and that will be visible on an x-ray. Most people have their wisdom teeth pulled anyway.
Reply:Go to a dentist. They will advise what is the best treatment for you. I can%26#039;t say without treating you. Are your wisdom teeth in? If not, they could still grow if your mouth has enough room for them.

Will my teeth shift after getting my wisdom teeth removed?

I have three wisdom teeth (one genetically missing). All of which have come in fully without complication. However, my new job requires that I get them pulled. --- I have already invested $2000 in braces for 2 years. Currently my teeth are PERFECT.

Will my teeth shift after getting my wisdom teeth removed?
Not sure what kind of job you got that requires them to be removed, that seems a little weird to me. However there is a chance that they might shift a bit. Mine have shifted a little since I got them removed which was at least 6 months ago. It all depends on your teeth and jaw line.
Reply:As long as the 1st and 2nd molars are present, having 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) extracted will not cause shifting.
Reply:What the heck kind of a job do you have that requires you to get teeth out? That%26#039;s really weird. In any case, your teeth aren%26#039;t going to shift. Teeth are programed to go towards the front of your mouth so removing the ones in the back won%26#039;t hurt anything. You may still get crowding of your lower front teeth as you age do to the above movement of teeth towards the front. Hey, if they were to move toward the rear they%26#039;d be marching down your throat....how fun would that be!

I have 6 top front teeth but most of the rest of my back top teeth are rotted away, can i replace the easily?

i let all my back top teeth rot away but my 6 front teeth are perfect, can i get new back teeth and still keep my front ones or do i have to get them all pulled to have all my teeth replaced?

I have 6 top front teeth but most of the rest of my back top teeth are rotted away, can i replace the easily?
You can keep your good teeth. On the back ones you can have them pulled and have a partial put in (the least expensive way to go). Or, if there is enough to work with, you can have caps put on them. This costs a little more. The last and most expensive is to have implants. Go to a very reputable dentist and see what options he says you have. Then it%26#039;s up to you and how much money and/or dental insurance you have to make the best decision. Good Luck.
Reply:You can keep your own teeth. Dentists can do anything as long as you have great insurance or tons and tons of money!!!
Reply:Yes, you can get dental implants if you can afford them. A word of caution, just because your front teeth appear well, there might be hidden problems. Have them x-rayed and have a periodontal exam. You need to know what the health of the supporting bone is like around the roots. If it is very poor, then you can expect the last 6 teeth to be pulled. At that point you can either go with a full denture or you can still go with implants. I just would not do anything without an x-ray survey first.
Reply:Your options are limited.

The remaining front teeth can be used to help support an upper partial denture, but often the denture doesn%26#039;t have enough grip and keeps dropping down at the back. Denture adhesives can help.

Usually the remaining teeth might have to be extracted and replaced with a full denture which is supported by suction over the whole roof of your mouth, or you would need implants to support fixed bridgework.

Will my orthodontist shape my front teeth? Please advise!?

When my teeth were crooked, my front teeth, on the top and bottom I guess, rubbed together at the bottom and top edges. So, the bottom of my front upper left tooth has a small corner missing from it, and some of my bottom teeth don%26#039;t have perfectly stragith edges either. I can only notice it now that my teeth are straight and my crossbite isn%26#039;t covering it up. I get my braces off soon. Will my orthodontist, like, shave the edges so that they my teeth are perfect? Or, is this something that I would have to get done at my regular dentist? Should I get bonding done? Please advise!

Will my orthodontist shape my front teeth? Please advise!?
yes mine did that to me. it doesnt hurt. it tickled to me and felt really weird after words, but if he dosnt then you can ask
Reply:i%26#039;m glad everything went well Report It

Reply:I don%26#039;t think the orthodontist will. When I got my braces removed my orthodontist didn%26#039;t do anything extra to my teeth. I am fortunate enough to have teeth that are pretty much all the same length and not chipped. I am sure it is something that would have to be paid for separate and that you would need to discuss with your regular dentist.
Reply:Normally that%26#039;s something your regular dentist would do, not the orthodontist... How badly chipped are they? If the edges are very uneven and/or chipped, the dentist might not be able to fix them by just shaving off the edges without taking off alot of tooth structure, in that case they will probably want to do bonding.

I would talk to your regular dentist about all that, the orthodontist definitely won%26#039;t do bonding as I%26#039;m sure you know so your regular dentist can go over your options with you and tell you what will look the best.

If you do get bonding though, if you want to whiten your teeth at any point do it before the bonding because bonding doesn%26#039;t whiten
Reply:I think this is something your regular dentist will have to take care of...unless your regular dentist is your orthodontist! Then you can get both done by the same person. In my case, I had seperate doctors for both so I%26#039;d have to have the dental stuff done seperately.
Reply:orthodontists do not shape teeth. make an appointment with your dentist to have him take a look. he may or may not recommend bonding. hint: if you want to whiten your teeth, ask your dentist how long you should wait to whiten your teeth, then whiten them before you get bonding if that is what he recommends. bonding will not whiten.

Older dogs and their teeth?

I have two senior citizens - a Beagle who is 14 and a Border Collie mix who is 14 or 15. They both eat the same food yet my Beagle has the worst teeth and always has! She had an abscess about two years ago and had several teeth pulled. The rest got cleaned but it didn%26#039;t take long for them to be all nasty again. Today, I noticed some swelling in her face, which looks like another abscess!! I%26#039;m taking her to the vet later and I%26#039;m sure she%26#039;ll need to have more teeth pulled (I don%26#039;t know how many she has left! I%26#039;ll be putting her food through a blender, I guess!). My Border Collie, though, has fine teeth (not perfect, but he still seems to have them all!) Does anyone else have bad teeth issues with their older dogs? How do you deal? Did you have to change their food and all that? Yikes!

Older dogs and their teeth?
Generally, the older dogs I know about, the front teeth go first, and the more solid molars last, and maybe not at all... Which is good from the standpoint of being able to continue eating what they are used to.

Good luck!
Reply:thwy now have specialy formulated foods for specific breeds of dogs by Ukneuba (SP). You can get it at Petco.Mbaye while you%26#039;re at the vet ask about mabey a wet food or something to help. Tell them your situation and I am sure they%26#039;d be glad to help. That is what they are there for after all. Good luck and I%26#039;m sorry about your dog.
Reply:i work at a vet and i see lots of dogs with nasty teeth come in and out of there you are doing the right thing by taking him to the vet ask you vet what you can feed him to help his teeth
Reply:Oftentimes how well a dog%26#039;s teeth hold up over their lifespan is a function of genetics, as well as nutrition/health -- this is why you can have two dogs of similar age and life experience, one with great teeth, one with terrible problems.

Frankly, I%26#039;ve never brushed my dogs%26#039; teeth...partially because we don%26#039;t really need to. We feed a lot of %26quot;meaty bones%26quot; -- raw cow knuckle bones. The dogs love them, and it is a natural way of scraping the crud off their teeth.

I have a 12 year old male who was just in for a checkup -- my vet remarked about how fabulous his teeth were -- he said he%26#039;d guess 5-6 years old, looking only at the teeth. Again, partly genetics -- his mother and aunt had fabulous teeth throughout their lives, too.

But I really do think the meaty bones have played a major role. You might try it!
Reply:Yes, beagles are nasty creatures.
Reply:My two shih tzus were exactly the same story. The older one (who lived to be 19) had marvelous teeth. The younger (who is now 17) has not a tooth left! She started having problems with the abscesses etc. when she was only 6. She eats the Science Diet canned food for seniors. The others have the dry food available at all times and she also eats that. Along with the Puperoni pet treats. The only real issue she has had is that her tongue slides out of the side of her mouth. Makes her look cute and a little demented.

Don%26#039;t worry about her losing her teeth. You won%26#039;t have to puree her food. She%26#039;s better off without them as opposed to having them and being in pain from an infection.

Good luck to all three of you!
Reply:I had a dog she was 14 also. She has passed on now. She had bad teeth also, she never liked to chew on anything not chew bones or toys. Her teeth started to fall out the last few months of her being here I had bought puppy food for her just because the foods are smaller. She was able to eat them. If her teeth did not hurt that day she would chew but if they bothered her the food I got was small enough she could just swallow them. She never lost weight and she was %26quot;healthy%26quot; until she passed away. (She Had a bad Heart ) Good luck with both of your dogs!
Reply:Well food is going to be a big issue. Considering that they are both older it is going to take longer...but worth it. I just switched my old man not a natural diet. His teeth were really bad too. Some of it had to do with the fact that he was racer (greyhound ) and all they feed him on the tract was raw low grad meat. If you are into the natural thing I recommend rushing your dogs teeth, along with doing a wash with echnacha or goldenseal. Just make a strong tea and put some in the mouth of the dog...let sit for a min. and then let the dog spit it out or swallow it. Will not hurt him. Also if his breath is really bad try using chlorophyll ( green stuff from plants ) you can find it at a heath food store.

Going back to my dog, I had his teeth cleaned, and that was the end of that, I brush them once a week and have him on a natural diet. He looks even better now, and his teeth looks wonderful, along with m,uch better breath. (by the way I was feeding really high quality food.
Reply:I use to have an old dog that I had the same problem with him loosing his teeth. All we did was put some warm water in his dog food to soften it up so he could still eat the same food.

Question about fixing teeth gap and bleaching?

I am an avid teeth bleacher. I bleach about once a week. I buy it from the dentist and it%26#039;s expensive and powerful, so I only do it ever so often. But I have a gap between my two front teeth. I%26#039;d like to get this fixed. The rest of my teeth are perfect except for the gap. It completely interferes with the way I smile and has caused self esteem issues. I would like to get this fixed and have looked into bonding. I%26#039;ve read that if you bleach your teeth and having bonding on them, it will be two different colors. I don%26#039;t want that. I also don%26#039;t need a set of braces. What are some other options? I%26#039;d like to fix my gap and still be able to bleach my teeth.Thank you!

Question about fixing teeth gap and bleaching?
Hi, person with bonding! lol You can%26#039;t change the initial color of bonding but if they become discolored along with your teeth you can whiten that, since it is stain and not the actual bonding itself. I%26#039;ve had it two years, and soda and college student goes together like soda and teeth staining. So if you want to get your teeth really white, achieve the whiteness you want before doing the bonding and you can maintain the color.
Reply:you can%26#039;t get a true match. The best thing to do is stop bleaching for awhile, then get your DDS to bond the whitest shade he or she has .
Reply:First off, you should not bleach your teeth that often. Too much bleaching can cause your teeth to become irridescent and will look %26quot;off%26quot;. Bleaching should be done every couple of months after the initial 2 week time period, or as often as needed for touch-ups. If you bleach too often you will get a fake look to your teeth. Next, you can do bonding or you can do veneers. Both work well and they can be matched to your other teeth. A good dentist can do this. They can get very close to the shade of your other teeth, and no one would know unless they knew what to look for. the other option would be crowns, but that can be more expensive. Find a good dentist or cosmetic dentist. If you approach your gap these ways you should stop bleaching at least a week before the procedure or they won%26#039;t match.
Reply:Ask you dentist. There are special retainers that can be made to close gaps without having to get bonding or veneers or braces. If you have been bleaching for a while, it isn%26#039;t nessecary to bleach every week. You can cut down to once a month or every other week. In one week the shade of your teeth is not going to change. Just thought I%26#039;d mention that, cuz it would save you some $$ as far as buying the bleaching materials. but ask about the retainers.

Help with my Teeth?

well, i cant stand my teeth. my two front teeth look like beavers teeth, long %26amp; small with space inbetween. the tooth beside that is WAY too small, i think it might be called a snapple tooth but im not sure. and i still need to loose 4. I was wondering if theres anything you could recommend that i can do to get my teeth to look at least a bit normal; braces, retainer, caps etc.? my bottom teeth are perfect i just wanna fix my top teeth. please help, thanks:)

Help with my Teeth?
Braces are wonderful at fixing this problem. Since it%26#039;s only the top, if you are over 14 Invisalign braces won%26#039;t be seen and will help yuo not look different having braces on the top but not the bottom.

Front teeth gap?

My teeth are perfect other then my gap, when i was younger i went to the dentist and he told me that it would eventually close as i got older.... well it didnt and now that my wisdom teeth are coming in my mouth doesnt have any room for them and my gap still isnt closing.. they are also causeing my lower teeth to be crowded in front making them twist..... i also have a slight over bite where only my front four teeth hang over my bottom ones...... i just recently went to the dentist and he said nothing about my teeth with the over bite, gap, and slightly twisting of my front bottom teeth.....he only advised me to get my wisdom teeth looked at..... SHOULD I GO TO AN ORTHRODONIC OR WHAT?

Front teeth gap?
Yes. If you are unhappy about the spacing of your teeth, you would need to see an orthodontist to correct it. Ask your dental office who they prefer and go for a consult. You will need your wisdom teeth removed prior to ortho if they are ready to be removed. If they aren%26#039;t ready then do it after ortho treatment.
Reply:Ask your dentist to refer you to an orthodontist
Reply:YEP U NEED BRACES!
Reply:Yes, you should go to an orthodontist!

Teeth question.?

Hello everyone! My brother never brushes his teeth. the last time was like a month ago...Yeah i know SICK! No one really knows about it except for me. But, his teeth are perfect! he is 15, he stopped brushing like at 12. he might brush his teeth 2-3 times a month. He went to the dentist yesterday. he said his teeth were perefect. Not 1 Cavatie...No chips...No puffy gums. Nothing. He has been taking Floride all the way up to 12 years old. How is his teeth so perfect???

How can she be perfect?
Well... to me...you kinda sound like you have a crush...that%26#039;s a lot of description for just a friend... you need to rethink this whole perfect thing...everyone has a secret. No one is perfect. Maybe she%26#039;s clincally depressed. or her parents hate her. you never know. but i think you might be blowing this out of porpotion. U have a crush on her and she seems perfect by comparison to everyone else.

Looks can be deceiving - especially with an overachiever. She works out %26quot;a LOT%26quot; and makes it a point to eat really healthy? That takes work - no wonder she has a great figure.

Nowhere does it mention her home life. Are her parents together? Does she get help and attention from her family? Does she have a happy, healthy, loving home? Even if you%26#039;ve met her parents, you have no idea what sort of pressure they may be putting on her to maintain her %26quot;perfect%26quot; facade. Or what skeletons are in her closet.

Believe me, no one is perfect. There%26#039;s a fairly good chance she has her reasons for working so hard to have the image you detailed to us. And so she got lucky with some natural talent and looks - it still takes a lot of work to portray perfection.

she always eats healthy, she exercises, she volunteers, she%26#039;s soo smart.

she%26#039;s perfect because she%26#039;s healthy, happy, and smart, and thus motivated.

now obviously, she%26#039;s NOT perfect. everyone has flaws of some sort. either those flaws are too horrible for her to let other people see, or they%26#039;re too simple and minor for people to notice.

But we must be careful because appearances cheat. Maybe this person has everything but we don´t live with her 24 hours a day. We can´t know the problems that she surely have. The only place in the world where you can´t find problems is the cemetery.

Can brushing your teeth too much be harmful?

I have never been to the dentist in my life, and I have perfect white teeth. I don%26#039;t even know what a cavity feels like. But because I have perfect hygeine I thought maybe it could go the other extreme too, and cause some sort of damage...

Can brushing your teeth too much be harmful?
brushing twice a day is not too much, it is just normal. do not worry, I do not think there will be any damge to your teeth.
Reply:you%26#039;re welcome Report It

Reply:In theory you can erode the enamel, but I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it unless you brush 20 times a day.
Reply:Yes, you can irritate the gums, use too much flouride (it%26#039;s in water AND some toothpastes) and wear down the enamel. Some bacteria is good for teeth!
Reply:...brushing you teeth too hard I hear is harmful...
Reply:I don%26#039;t think it would be bad
Reply:nope but you could damage your gums. gum health is important too. if you use tooth whitener too much your teeth turn see-thru and that can be kind of weird.
Reply:Yes, you can wear them right down to the nubs.
Reply:Yes.

i read somewhere that brushing ur teeth too much can damage ur enamel or something like that
Reply:June 20, 2003 -- Less may be more when it comes to brushing your teeth. A new study shows that applying more than a light amount of pressure to your teeth or brushing longer than two minutes doesn%26#039;t make them any cleaner and may increase the risk of oral health problems.

Experts say many people believe that the longer and harder you brush your teeth, the better it is for your teeth. But the study shows there%26#039;s a limit to the amount of pressure your teeth can take, and beyond that extra force or time doesn%26#039;t do any further good.

Researcher Peter Heaseman, professor of periodontology at the Newcastle University%26#039;s School of Dental Sciences, says the goal of brushing your teeth is to remove plaque, the sticky substance that can harden on teeth and gums when bits of food are left in the mouth. Plaque buildup can cause problems beyond just cavities, such as gum disease. But brushing too hard or for too long can damage the protective enamel on your teeth or irritate your gums and cause other oral health problems.

A Light Touch for Two Minutes

Researchers studied the brushing techniques and times of 12 volunteers who used electric toothbrushes during a four-week study. The participants were taught how to use the oscillating toothbrush, which was hooked up to a computer that took time and pressure measurements. Researchers compared 16 combinations of various brushing times and pressures. Plaque levels on the teeth were also recorded before and after brushing.

They found that plaque removal improved with longer brushing time up to two minutes and with greater pressure up to 150 grams of pressure, which is about the weight of an orange.

%26quot;Although we found that you have to brush your teeth reasonably long and hard to get rid of the harmful plaque which causes dental diseases, our research shows that once you go beyond a certain point, you aren%26#039;t being any more effective,%26quot; says Heaseman, in a news release. %26quot;You could be actually harming your teeth and gums.%26quot;

Heaseman says the same results would also be expected if the volunteers had used ordinary toothbrushes rather than the electronic versions.

Researchers say the force necessary to brush your teeth is actually quite light because the pressure is being applied to a very small area.

%26quot;If you are unsure how to go about brushing your teeth, the best thing to do is to make an appointment with your dentist or dental hygienist who will be able to train you in the correct techniques and will show you approximately how much pressure you should be applying,%26quot; says Heaseman.
Reply:Since you have perfectly normal teeth, I don%26#039;t think you overdo your brushing. Brushing twice a day is essential. However you must take care as to how much pressure do you use, and what kind of technique you use to clean your teeth.

First of all, you must be very gentle and thorough in cleaning your teeth. Do not brush as you would clean the tiles of your bathroom floor. Meaning horizontally and with extreme pressure. This could lead to wearing down of the enamel near the gum margin (as it is the thinnest in this region) and cause what is called %26quot;abrasions%26quot;. Abrasions are wedge shaped deformities which can lead to sensitivity.

If your toothpaste is too abrasive, it can even lead to abrasions on your gums, leading to ulcers.

Use a medium hard toothbrush, with about 12- 15 bristles per column and 4-5 bristles per row. Use a fluoridated toothpaste, and the technique outlined in the webpage below. It%26#039;s called the Bass technique of brushing.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?

I%26#039;m very good looking and very nice. My teeth are discolored from antibiotics I took when I was younger. I rarely smile and am very depressed about this. The only solution is veneer which costs around $5000 which I don%26#039;t have. Whitening procedures may help a bit but not much. I do go to a dentist twice a year and brush my teeth, it%26#039;s not like they%26#039;re rotten or anything. Has anyone tried crest strips? Back to the subject, no one is perfect. I%26#039;m just wondering how important perfect, white teeth are! And like I said, I

am very hot just not my teeth.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?
Well it%26#039;s not a big problem if your trying really hard to whiten them like you are, it%26#039;s only a problem when they don%26#039;t care that their teeth look like baked beans.
Reply:As long as you don%26#039;t have a bad breath.... its fine
Reply:yes because bad teeth are very ugly
Reply:I%26#039;m not a guy but good teeth are a must. You talk and kiss and and eat with a person and you see teeth quite a bit. Not everyone cares about teeth, even really hot guys will date a girl with gross teeth if she is still pretty, but the one thing is people jump to conclusions like you arent clean and never brush, if you like someone just explain to them why they are that way and they bug you and if the guy doesnt like it, let him walk.

Reply:no because thats not a big problem for me and their is always more girl then bad teeth
Reply:so are you saying you %26#039;would%26#039; date a girl with bad teeth??

that%26#039;s so sweet!!!

i think most people think white teeth are important because it means a person takes good care of their mouth. most people don%26#039;t think maybe a person has discolored teeth because of medication. they just think the person doesn%26#039;t take care of their mouth.

i guess from now on i%26#039;ll just have to make sure it%26#039;s not from neglect. because NO ONE wants to date a guy that don%26#039;t take care of his mouth.

i use crest plus whitening toothpaste. have you tried white light treatments. they sell the kits at walmart now. i have used it once and it worked for me.

i hope one day you will be happy with your smile. but don%26#039;t get a big head when you do. keep being a sweety.
Reply:As you are very hot, I am sure you can have secret little meetings with guys but few would like to be seen with you as their girlfriend but as your main attraction is that you are hot and not classy, educated, interesting with a good personality, once they unload you will have served your purpose. At least you can get a good night%26#039;s sleep, you won%26#039;t have to put up with snoring or guys farting in bed.
Reply:I would work OT and save up for the veneer. Make that your top priority. I know it sucks to have to worry so much about the surface stuff but for most people bad teeth are a hard thing to get past.

If you have a decent job you can get a loan for the procedure. If you are too young to be working tell your parents thats all you want for Christmas. Or that you%26#039;ll pay them back. Can you justget the front top ones done to start with?

i mean ive been told a lot of times that i perfect straight teeth, but i never really took it as a compliment, and ussualy my reactions are, uncertain of what to say , or just a smirk, its like saying to me, dude nice nose hairs.

you know, i just dont get it, i mean i do take my teeth for granted a lot of times, i just use it for chewing food.

Why are my teeth getting really crocked??

so i just got my bottom wisdom teeth and they pushed my perfect bottom teeth together they are not that bad but they used to be really straight. now that im getting the top ones i feel one of my front upper tooth is also getting a bit crooked..

what should i do????

Why are my teeth getting really crocked??
pull out the wisdom teeth to get the space back and then get braces to make them straight again. your dentist would tell u to pull the the wisdom teeth sooner or later anyway. some dentists would give u the braces you use at night only when u sleep if u dont want it all day.
Reply:Go to the Dentist
Reply:??????
Reply:The reason that your teeth are crowding in the front is due to the eruption of your final molars or %26#039;widom teeth%26#039;. When these molars come in, if there is not enough room in the mouth then the teeth in front are pushed to the front an then crowd and misalign the lateral (front)teeth. To fix this problem you should see your dentist or an orthodontist. Most times this problem may be corrected by pulling or extracting the %26#039;widom teeth%26#039;.

Brushing teeth to long bad?

I brush my teeth approx 5minutes every session, which is twice a day. Is that to long? I don%26#039;t brush hard, I%26#039;m just not getting the results, it seems the longer i brush, the yellower my teeth seem to be, they just don%26#039;t seem to whiten, i used to have those perfect white teeth (no pun intended) but not, over time they seem to yellowin, not decay, but not the best smile.

Thank you in advance.

I am using an electric toothbrush, the Oral B Vitality for about 6 weeks.

Brushing teeth to long bad?
You are brushing your teeth to long which can make the enamel on your teeth wear out quicker. The rule of thumb for the length of time to brush teeth: say the %26quot;Happy Birthday%26quot; song twice in your head and then stop brushing!
Reply:if you brush for too long you can brush away your enamal and if you brush too hard your gums can bleed. You should brush 2 a day for about 3 mins and floss once.
Reply:Maybe your real problem is obsessive compulsive
Reply:No, over brushing shouldn%26#039;t be a problem. If you feel any more uncertainty about it, then you should just lessen your time.
Reply:your not supposed to brush very long or hard, you damage your enamel over the long term with ferrocious cleaning.

you should be able to sing %26#039;happy birthday%26#039; in your head twice, also just put enough pressure on your teeth to clean the surface. floss to get those close spots.

your teeth can get yellow if you wear out the enamel.
Reply:cuz when u brush to long u kill th coroma or something like that which is on your teeth and ur teeth are unprotected and its easir for them to get dirty/yellowish Dont brush for to long i know what u mean
Reply:The brushing guidelines say to brush for two minutes. Personally, I don%26#039;t think that%26#039;s long enough. I usually brush for five minutes too. The key is not too brush too hard, which you seem to have under control.

As for the yellowing...do you drink colas, coffee, or even things like grape juice? Those can all yellow the teeth over time. So does smoking. Have you had to take antibiotics? They yellow the teeth as well. My daughter used the Crest whitestrips and they REALLY work well! Give them a try.

The Oral B is a good brush. I could never go back to manual again! lol
Reply:I always brush that long!! Enamel is the hardest substance in the body, a soft nylon bristle can wear it out. If your gums bleed, it%26#039;s because you haven%26#039;t been brushing well. Brush long, but don%26#039;t use abrasive toothpaste. (I usually do my long brush without toothpaste...shorter brushings with toothpaste for fluoride treatments... also I never get my teeth %26quot;professionally polished.%26quot; That really wears the enamel. My teeth are shade B1, the lightest natural shade; you can go a tad lighter with bleaching)

Crooked teeth genetic..?

It%26#039;s a weird question, but I%26#039;m curious.. :D

My brother (14) and I (21) both have one high canine tooth, but you can%26#039;t tell when we smile because our upper lip covers the high tooth. But our parents%26#039; teeth are straight.

Then my husband and his sibs (except for one) have crooked teeth, like where the 2 front teeth are more to the front, but their parents%26#039; don%26#039;t.

THEN there are people like my friend who just have perfect straight teeth, as well as their family.

Why is that?! I%26#039;m such a dork, but like I said I%26#039;m curious. Is it genetic somewhere along the line or something?! Thx :D

Crooked teeth genetic..?
It%26#039;s definitely genetic.....My sister and I got my mother%26#039;s teeth and as a result we both spent four years with braces to correct that...while my dad%26#039;s side all have fantastically straight teeth. Bum deal or what?!

What is kinda funny to do and if you have a lotta time on your hands is go thru old photo albums and just look out for the dominant genes running thru your families like hair colour, teeth, noses eyes etc. Perfect for those boring rainy days!!
Reply:Genetics have a strong tie to how large your jaw is, how many teeth you form, and the shape/size of the teeth.
Reply:I think it is genetics. Most of us in my family have straight teeth. I never had braces and I get asked often if I ever did wear braces, because my teeth are so straight. But I think if you have a smaller mouth you can get crowding with so many teeth needing to fit. I was always told to not wiggle my loose teeth as my baby teeth were falling out. I really tried not to do that and I guess it helped, but my mouth is large enough to fit all of my teeth. Even my wisdom teeth came in straight. I never needed them pulled.
Reply:definately genetic, even worse if you sucked your thumb..

Will oral sex spoil the allignment of my teeth?

I have worn braces for 2 years and now am on retainers. Wearing the braces has made my teeth perfect. But the orthodontist has warned that i should be careful and not eat hard things like apple or corn as it may spoil the allignment of the teeth. Now my question is will having oral sex spoil the allignment of the teeth?

Will oral sex spoil the allignment of my teeth?
NO.....if you do it correctly.

You are not going to bite it!!

that wouldnt be pleasureable., that would hurt as hell

U lick, put it inside, and etc etc

i think you will know what to do!

good luck!!!!

PS dont bite it PLEASE
Reply:So long you%26#039;re careful it shouldn%26#039;t be much of a problem. The doc doesn%26#039;t want you to eat that stuff as biting into such things tend to make food bits get wedged into some inappropriate places.

Personally, I%26#039;d wait a couple of months for the braces to tighten up a bit before going down.

But then, just how vigorously do you perform oral sex anyway?
Reply:Your giving bjs and worrying about your teeth?

You should be worrying about other things..
Reply:it will have no effect at all....
Reply:Not at all. Remember that you were in braces for two years to move your teeth. The reason it takes so long is because it takes a certain amount of force applied over a long time in order to move teeth. Even if you engage in oral sex daily, you%26#039;re likely not applying that much force to your teeth, and unless it%26#039;s for hours at a time it won%26#039;t have any effect no matter how aggressive you are.

Just don%26#039;t lose track of your retainers and roll over them in the heat of the moment. ;)

Be safe, have fun, and good luck.
Reply:Not unless you are going to do it for at least 8 hours a day for the next year or so... It takes a long time to change the orientation of teeth, if you are not chewing on hard things. Your will be caressing, liking and sucking on it... hardly a way to mess up your teeth...

You have previously asked many questions about the wear and care of braces. You seem to be going berzerk over you braces and oral sex. At one time you said you were geting married at age 35 and was worried about the care of you teeth after you remove your braces.... You are neither getting married nor 35, if you were, you would not be going through braces/retainers since this must be done BEFORE age 20. This treatment on an adult is almost hopeless unless you spend at least 5 years with actual braces and another two or three with retainers...

Being as young as you are, perhaps you should be thinking about college and leave these things for when you truly grow up... the chances of getting an STD or gaining a bad reputation are high.
