Could a cavity be forming if I'm getting a rotten smell from between 1 or 2 pairs of my back teeth?

I got back on the flossing tip about a year ago when I got my teeth bleached and as my dental coverage ceased. Since then, I've been good at it and actually fixed my gingivitis.

I still have my molars for the record though, and I get this foul smell from between from my top wisdoms and tooth in front of them on each side of my mouth. Smell like a cavity and I can only floss "so well". Should I just get them pulled out, as I don't have any discomfort from them since they grew out nearly perfect. Thanks!

Could a cavity be forming if I'm getting a rotten smell from between 1 or 2 pairs of my back teeth?
The reason that you should have your wisdom teeth taken out is because most people do not have a large enough jaw to support them so when they do come in they will cause your teeth to shift and move. The other reason is they are so far back that it is hard to clean them properly so it is easier for them to get infected. Your wisdom teeth have come in just fine but as you said you can't floss between them very well so they can cause a cavity to form on your wisdom tooth and the tooth in front of it. It is best to have them taken out. Go see an oral surgeon to have them taken out. They can put you to sleep to have them extracted so you will not know what is going on. It will be over before you know it. Good Luck.
Reply:From the work experience I have had for 20 years dentistry and oral surgery you should have your wisdom teeth pulled. There isn't enough room for a tooth brush to fit properly.

Even if they came in straight and you have enough room it is a breeding ground for bacteria.
Reply:This is so not a question for Yahoo! Answers. Because your problem is so specific you really should be asking your dentist.
Reply:could be I would get it checked out

Lingual braces..the one that go in the back of your teeth. How much more do they cost then regular braces?

I really truly d not want braces but I know I need them t have he perfect smile. I cant stand the look of them on anyone.I heard lingual braces are available. Ones where you can put it on the back of your teeth. What is the prices difference between lingual and regular braces. Are there any more options out there other then these 2, to have the least noticeable braces.

Lingual braces..the one that go in the back of your teeth. How much more do they cost then regular braces?
I have lingual braces and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Had them for about 7 months I think. I had a lisp at first but it went a way in a couple of weeks. My tounge once got caught on a bracket...it sucks when you have a cold and cough bc your tounge pushes forward into the brackets...umm what else..that's bout it..u can always put wax on the bracket to protect your tounge but I hardly ever have to. I LOVE my braces...how crazy is that? Mine were about $2000 more than traditional braces and I had to pay that up front but my ortho didnt charge very much bc I was his 1st patient...I'm sure the price will increase once he gets more experience.

But I dont see why anyone would get any other type of braces...I can already see results..and all you see are my teeth no metal. I had crowding and an overbite that I'm correcting. 30 year old female...felt like I was toooo old to be wearing braces and the lingual ones were a better look for me and I have the money to pay for them so why not!

LOVE THEM!
Reply:I would set up an appointment with an orthodontist. I will tell you this though, I have had braces and it was terrible, your lips and gums get cut up. However, if you were to get braces on the back of your teeth, it may cut up your tongue. I would really think about it and find others who have had them to see how it all went.
Reply:The point of getting braces is to fix your teeth...Not look glamorous in them (although some people think braces look good). If you want to get less noticeable braces, you should get clear braces which are ceramic brackets that blend in with your teeth well. I have clear braces and from a relative difference you can't even tell I'm wearing braces, and couple of my friends didn't even know I had braces until I told them.
Reply:i want those too. but they run around 10,000 dollars.

Do All Guys Care about in girls is To Have Straight Teeth?
I'm not a guy but my teeth are no where near perfect %26amp; I never had a problem getting a guy. So I guess that means not all guys care about straight teeth.
Reply:I guess it doesn't matter, I mean my teeth aren't all that straight in fact I only have 1 crooked one and its barely noticeable. As long as all the teeth are there or at least the ones in the front of the mouth.

How do I get over needing to be perfect appearence wise? (details)?

Ever since like 7th grade I've felt the need to look perfect I'm in 9th now.

Its got to stop. I'm never good enough for myself and its become kind of like an obsession and I feel inferior (at least appearence wise) to almost everybody.

My skin's never clear enough, my teeth aren't straight enough, my breath isn't minty enough, my eyes aren't light enough, my hair isn't wavy enough, my arms aren't muscular enough, my stomach isn't defined enough, my legs are too skinny, my waist is too high... its just BAD

I expect perfection of myself but I can never get it... and its not that I'm bad looking I just always want to be better = [

your links dont work hon
Reply:well 1. your pics don't work

and 2. IT'S CALLED BEING HUMAN! everyone has issues, and no one is perfect

the only way to stop doing this is (i know it sounds bad but it helps me) stop looking at your flaws and see if you can notive them in other people! you're not the only one with a pimple...a bad hair day...skinny legs...etc

just realize that everyone else in the world is thinking about THEIR problem, not yours! so get on with your life :)
Reply:Your links don't work - and no, not really I've never had that problem. I'm already perfect. Just kidding - but I do love the way I look. Everyone has stuff they would change, it's completely normal. But, the fact that you border upon obsession is probably not good, and you may want to see a therapist about that. I remember starting freshman year I was still really short and it bothered me so much but there was really nothing I can do about it - I'm only about 5'5" now, but I've learned to love it - especially since it means I get to wear heels all the time. You grow to love your flaws because they are part of what makes you, you - no one can be perfect, as the meaning of perfect is open to interpretation.
Reply:well first off your links dont work.

and secondly everyone has different ideas of what beauty is while you might assume guys only think blonde tanned girls are gorgeous most guys i know like darker haired fairer skin girls.everyone has different types youre never going to mold into someone EVERYONE thinks is hot.some people think beauty is paris hilton while othrs think more towards an angelina.

the most important thing is a good personality thats all you ever need to work on because if ur a bad person or a ***** or nasty to people than no one will like you even if you looked like a model.so just be a good perosn and know that life is too short to always care about looks you should focus more on just having fun and trying to care about important things
Reply:Links don't work and I'm sure you're fine. Everyone is different I'm sure you look amazing to someone else.

Is it better to have a brace for 2 years and have strait teeth or not and have crooked teeth forever?

im almost 20 years old and my smile isnt perfect, i know that a brace would fix this and i would feel so much more confident having pefrectly strait teeth. im starting uni next year though and am worried of how being a 20 year old with a brace will effect how people see me and also weather a brace would make me look more unnatractive, although the end results would obviously be better.

Is it better to have a brace for 2 years and have strait teeth or not and have crooked teeth forever?
More and more adults are getting braces now a days. My brother had them when he was in his 20's too. Two years is not a long time when considering you have your whole life ahead of you. If someone is unattracted to you because you are trying to better yourself, then you don't want to be around them anyway. Remeber the ugly duckling story?
Reply:Wear braces. Unless your teeth are fine anyway. Ask your dentist on his opinion.
Reply:Definatly get braces... I love my teeth after them and it is totally worth it!!! YOu can also get the clear braces so just the metal wire shows... i did that and i loved them!!! but i love my straight teeth now!!! Do it lol
Reply:well you should wear them and get it over with. Or you could just check with your dentist and see what he can do about it.
Reply:old enough to not be made fun of but not too old for the braces--perfect time
Reply:well if its going to make u feel better baout ur self u should definately do it. and braces don't look that bad actually, they look nice on a lot of ppl now:) they come in all of these colours and stuff. so yeah do it! and don't worry about how u look they look fine! and u have a year before uni. so if u get them now than ull only spend a year in uni wearing it:)
Reply:It depends - how bad are your teeth? Are we talking a few out-of-line teeth, or a few snaggle tooths?

If it's the latter, I it would end up doing you better in the end. It would definitely make you look younger now, but the end rewards would be worth it, especially if it makes you feel more confident about yourself and how you look. Once it's over, it's over and you don't have to worry about it, but if you do nothing, and it bothers you, it'll bother you your whole life. What's two years of braces compared to a lifetime of confidence?
Reply:I'm twenty. I had braces when I was younger and now I went to get my lower front teeth done. People said o don't do it its a waste of money, you can't even see it when you smile. I spoke to the orthodontist and he said it would eventually get worse because it may not seem like they were moving on a daily basis, but you would see the difference in pictures or someone who sees you every so often might notice.

Speak to the ortho and see what they say. Make your decision for yourself and not based on what others think.
Reply:it doesnt matter really. staright teeth arent the world. but if you want a staight smile i would say wear braces. and you wouldnt nesicarily have to wear them for 2 years and you could also get the clear brackets.
Reply:Braces are a total pain, but they are worth it in the end, especially if you are self-conscious about your smile.

As for being unattractive, I don't see how it would, although I suppose there are always those who would think so. The people that would judge you for that aren't worth your time anyway, though.

Consult your dentist or orthodontist, because he/she will know what to do, better than most people on here.
Reply:I would definitely choose braces.

I don't have major problems with my teeth, I have a tiny overbite, but I'm still thinking about getting braces.

You can also go for the invisible braces, or like some celebrities have, the braces on the back of your teeth.
Reply:braces: put 'em on

braces r barely noticeable

trust me

i had it for 3 and a half years!

when i took 'em off and showed my

friends

that i knew since b4 i got 'em on

they asked

''u had braces?''
Reply:I am on my 4th year of braces (I have a screwed up mouth) and it is soo worth it in the end. I am going to a university next fall and am going to feel weird being this age and still have braces. But hey, it will pay off. If you can afford it then do it. It already sounds like you want it because you are not totally satisfied with your teeth now... So do it. The only problem would be if you moved away from your orthodontist to go to school. When you have braces you have to visit the ortho every month, so that is really something to discuss with them. Let me tell you 2 years is not that bad for braces. The only thing you need to consider is the $ cause it is expensive. But I think a perfect smile is priceless!!

One more thing... CLEAR BRACKETS are the way to go with braces. I have them and they don't turn colors and NO ONE knows you actually have braces on!!
Reply:I'm 19 too and in my second year of braces. It is definitely worth it. I love my new smile, even though the braces are still here. If you want braces, go for it! You won't regret it.

Unfortunately, I very much suffer from this problem.

Trust me, no matter how much affirmation you get from other people, it will not make a difference.

I work as a model for a promotional group, and it still isn't enough. I'm told constantly that I'm beautiful, but it's definitely not good enough.

Basically, what I'm saying is that there's going to have to be some inner change in you, some realization that you are who you are, and there's nothing that you can do about it.

I'm guessing you were teased alot when you were young(er)?

That'll make people obsess alot about their appearance. I know it did me.

What could have caused a gap between my front teeth at 29 years old?

About 7 months ago I went to the dentist for the first time in about 5 years the only thing that was wrong was some slight plaque build up, which he cleaned, and some wearing of the teeth from grinding them, for the grinding he ordered a splint which i have not been able to wear through a whole night yet. what worries me is that something he did while cleaning or even the splint has caused this because it has happend over the last 6 months. is there some kind of disease of the mouth that causes something like this? I am very serious about my mouth and always try and keep it perfect and this new gap is bugging me I am starting to whistle when I talk sometimes.

What could have caused a gap between my front teeth at 29 years old?
The gap only start to happen when there are no teeth supporting the front teeth so they start to give way, and of course thatshould be bridged, but dont worry there is always away to bridge that gap, thru a brace or dental restoration..ok?
Reply:At 29 years of age, because you have not been to a dentist in 5 years, my guess is you have periodontal disease. This causes the bone around the roots of the teeth to recede. This allows the teeth to separate.

You stated that you only had slight plaque buildup. Unless you are a highly motivated hygienist who flosses and brushes frequently and PROPERLY, my belief is that you have one dishonest dentist or hygienist. In 5 years, you would have likely had tartar buildup at least around your upper molars and on the lingual surfaces of your lower teeth.

Do you smoke? Smoking greatly speeds up bone loss especially around upper front teeth.

Did the dentist or hygienist take at least 15 minutes to measure periodontal pockets?

Did you have several x-rays taken that would have SHOWN bone loss?

Did you know that grinding your teeth causes bone loss and shifting teeth? Even if you do not have tartar buildup and periodontal disease associated with it, grinding and clenching can be sufficient to cause bone loss and spaces to open.

I think you need a better dental office, one in which the dental staff will provide you with a complete dental exam. This exam MUST include measuring periodontal pockets, gum recession, numerous x-rays, a detailed description of the health (or disease) of your gums, and provide an honest, thorough cleaning.
