Is this a good metaphor ?

Not Perfect





Every time I try, I fail


I look at the clock slowly ticking wishing that the day would be over


I try and try till I’m perfect


But I can’t seem to get it


I’m confused, I see everyone else perfect


But I slowly realize


No one is perfect


But I keep on trying till I am perfect


That one rainy day I thought to my self why should I try to be perfect when I always fail?


I went to sleep and the next day I didn’t try to make my self perfect


I didn’t try to have the perfect hair


The perfect teeth


Or the perfect personality


I realized I should be my self and not a copy


I was my self that day…..


And that day was the best day of my life

Is this a good metaphor ?

Reply:What metaphor? You don't have any comparison of one thing to another in here... It's pretty in a way though it lacks the rhythmic flow that really marks something as a poem. It merely has the syntactical appearance of a poem. Poems don't have to rhyme, but they do have a heightened lyrical fluency. Just my opinion of course. :)

Reply:It's more of a paradox than a metaphor, I think, that the most perfect day of your life would be the day you gave up the idea of being perfect. It's also a beautiful spiritual lesson about how we should really live our lives. Nicely done.

There is no such thing as a cloud nine and if there were, Sis would not be on it. The phrase, "on cloud nine" has taken the place of "elated" to convey the same idea in figurative language.
