What ways can u overcome tooth sensitivity issues without having a root canal.?

One night i drank a whole lot of margaritas, the next morning my wife fixed me some pancakes and i felt a sharp pain in my mouth when eating them, i went to brush my teeth, but noticed nothing was in my mouth. I started to get a throbbing headache and researched it and found it to be a sensitive tooth. I bought some sensodyne and brushed my teeth with it for about a mth. This calmed the serious pains, but when drinking cold water, i could still fill it and while chewing gum, i still develop headaches. I tuffed it out, and now a few mths later, my gums on the other side of my mouth have a similar sensitive issue, not nearly as intense, i dont have to use sensodyne anymore for either side. I hear the only way to solve this was with a root canal. I have no cavities, never had any and wondering what is goin on with my teeth and is a root canal the only solution. I have picture perfect teeth, no braces ever. Ill send pics to show them, the dentists all marvel at my teeth.

If you have no cavities, then you will NOT require a root canal. Root canals are for teeth that have rotted to the root or nerve. To me it sounds like you may be grinding or clenching your teeth at night when sleeping. From personal experience that alone can cause sensitivity in the teeth and cause headaches. The best thing to do is to get a night guard/splint for your teeth when you sleep. Your dentist can create one that fits your teeth perfectly and will protect your teeth. I have used these night guards for years. About every three years I have to have a new one made because I bite holes in them in my sleep.
Reply:There's obviously something wrong. Just because you didn't have a cavity the last time you went to the dentist doesn't mean you don't have one now.

You might also have gum disease. See the dentist right away.
Reply:sorry to say root canal is the only way..

but the good news is that it doesnt hurt that bad so dont worry about it..

and they will give you vicaden for the recovery, so you will be loopy for a day or 2
Reply:Just rubbing formaldehyde mixed tooth powder or toothpaste will definitely help you, Try and see the results you will be Happy.
Reply:no need to send pics...root canals can be necessary for several reasons not just tooth decay...damage to the tooth or nerve can be from trauma too so don't discount it if your dentist says you need one. and thats the real answer what did your dentist say? he will need to do an xray to see what and if there is a problem with the nerve if there is you will need a root canal as nerver deterioration will not go away on its on it will just get worse until it abcesses and then the pain you feel now will feel like a tickle comparatively...go to your dentist, describe what happened and see what they say...good luck
Reply:Go get a checkup, fer godsake. There's no use living in pain when a professional would gladly take your maney to fix the problem.
Reply:i think root canals are only for decaying teeth that need to be drained(ew). i'm sure you would know if you needed a root canal cause usually the pain is almost unbearable. just taking that from what i've heard. you could look up abcessed teeth on the internet though. i think thats what they're called or something close to that. but good luck anyway.
