Is it better to have a brace for 2 years and have strait teeth or not and have crooked teeth forever?

im almost 20 years old and my smile isnt perfect, i know that a brace would fix this and i would feel so much more confident having pefrectly strait teeth. im starting uni next year though and am worried of how being a 20 year old with a brace will effect how people see me and also weather a brace would make me look more unnatractive, although the end results would obviously be better.

Is it better to have a brace for 2 years and have strait teeth or not and have crooked teeth forever?
More and more adults are getting braces now a days. My brother had them when he was in his 20's too. Two years is not a long time when considering you have your whole life ahead of you. If someone is unattracted to you because you are trying to better yourself, then you don't want to be around them anyway. Remeber the ugly duckling story?
Reply:Wear braces. Unless your teeth are fine anyway. Ask your dentist on his opinion.
Reply:Definatly get braces... I love my teeth after them and it is totally worth it!!! YOu can also get the clear braces so just the metal wire shows... i did that and i loved them!!! but i love my straight teeth now!!! Do it lol
Reply:well you should wear them and get it over with. Or you could just check with your dentist and see what he can do about it.
Reply:old enough to not be made fun of but not too old for the braces--perfect time
Reply:well if its going to make u feel better baout ur self u should definately do it. and braces don't look that bad actually, they look nice on a lot of ppl now:) they come in all of these colours and stuff. so yeah do it! and don't worry about how u look they look fine! and u have a year before uni. so if u get them now than ull only spend a year in uni wearing it:)
Reply:It depends - how bad are your teeth? Are we talking a few out-of-line teeth, or a few snaggle tooths?

If it's the latter, I it would end up doing you better in the end. It would definitely make you look younger now, but the end rewards would be worth it, especially if it makes you feel more confident about yourself and how you look. Once it's over, it's over and you don't have to worry about it, but if you do nothing, and it bothers you, it'll bother you your whole life. What's two years of braces compared to a lifetime of confidence?
Reply:I'm twenty. I had braces when I was younger and now I went to get my lower front teeth done. People said o don't do it its a waste of money, you can't even see it when you smile. I spoke to the orthodontist and he said it would eventually get worse because it may not seem like they were moving on a daily basis, but you would see the difference in pictures or someone who sees you every so often might notice.

Speak to the ortho and see what they say. Make your decision for yourself and not based on what others think.
Reply:it doesnt matter really. staright teeth arent the world. but if you want a staight smile i would say wear braces. and you wouldnt nesicarily have to wear them for 2 years and you could also get the clear brackets.
Reply:Braces are a total pain, but they are worth it in the end, especially if you are self-conscious about your smile.

As for being unattractive, I don't see how it would, although I suppose there are always those who would think so. The people that would judge you for that aren't worth your time anyway, though.

Consult your dentist or orthodontist, because he/she will know what to do, better than most people on here.
Reply:I would definitely choose braces.

I don't have major problems with my teeth, I have a tiny overbite, but I'm still thinking about getting braces.

You can also go for the invisible braces, or like some celebrities have, the braces on the back of your teeth.
Reply:braces: put 'em on

braces r barely noticeable

trust me

i had it for 3 and a half years!

when i took 'em off and showed my

friends

that i knew since b4 i got 'em on

they asked

''u had braces?''
Reply:I am on my 4th year of braces (I have a screwed up mouth) and it is soo worth it in the end. I am going to a university next fall and am going to feel weird being this age and still have braces. But hey, it will pay off. If you can afford it then do it. It already sounds like you want it because you are not totally satisfied with your teeth now... So do it. The only problem would be if you moved away from your orthodontist to go to school. When you have braces you have to visit the ortho every month, so that is really something to discuss with them. Let me tell you 2 years is not that bad for braces. The only thing you need to consider is the $ cause it is expensive. But I think a perfect smile is priceless!!

One more thing... CLEAR BRACKETS are the way to go with braces. I have them and they don't turn colors and NO ONE knows you actually have braces on!!
Reply:I'm 19 too and in my second year of braces. It is definitely worth it. I love my new smile, even though the braces are still here. If you want braces, go for it! You won't regret it.
