Q for men: Would a great personality trump crooked teeth?

I have been told I am pretty/cute and a very nice/caring person with a great personality. My one problem is that my teeth aren't all where they should be. Not rotting or anything, just crooked. If you met someone who was perfect other than noticably crooked teeth, would you look past that and still be interested, or would you walk quickly in the other direction?

(I am getting invisalign today- just thought I'd throw this Q out here....)

Q for men: Would a great personality trump crooked teeth?
It wouldn't bother you if you had a good personality and an otherwise attractive look. However, if you fix your teeth, you'll be a great catch.
Reply:Crooked teeth wouldnt matter that much.
Reply:You can always change crooked teeth but you can't change someone else's personality.
Reply:It depends on how crooked how great the personality is.
Reply:depends on how badly crooked teeth they are if it's minimal that's fine but if really looks bad then sorry speak to your orthodontist about getting something done about it.
Reply:we all have defects in some form or another.

some crooked teeth wouldn't bother me.

:)
Reply:It is hard to get past something like that. You find yourself looking at it constantly.
Reply:It's a heck of a lot easier to fix teeth than it is a personality.
Reply:Omg, look how shallow some guys are. Its terrible, but I wouldn't give up hope because I know a couple of woman that have the crazyiest crooked teeth ever and they are actually married.
Reply:If crooked teeth bothered them that much, you wouldn't want to be with them anyway.
Reply:I wouldn't care that much about crooked teeth. I probably wouldn't even notice if I was really into someone.

Has anyone used "Tooth Soap, the Perfect Perscription"?

if so, can you tell me about it and if you like it?

thanks!

Has anyone used "Tooth Soap, the Perfect Perscription"?
My wife and I have been using it for about a year now. It is good at cleaning your teeth (feels like you were at the dentist). It doesn't taste very good, but when you use it for a while, you don't notice (the citrus one is probably the best tasting).

My wife's teeth are bad, so we tried it and as of her last check-up, she hasn't gotten any new cavities and no longer needs the root canal that was previously needed.

This may seem miraculous, but we did switch dentists in between, so maybe the new dentist isn't as "root canal happy" or is not as observant.

It is also possible that the tooth soap just helped her teeth and gums. Its really hard to tell from a short time.

One conclusion I'd draw is that it doesn't work any worse than toothpaste and probably works a little better, because my teeth don't seem to be as sensitive to hot/cold as they were before.

You can always try it for a few months and see if you feel like its better. I do, but again, perception can play a big roll in that. I don't have scientific evidence or anything like that.
Reply:I'm using Dove soap unscented because the tooooo-comercialize-for-profit-multi-bil... Colgate failed me for the last 35 years. My principle is if you want to change result you need to change the other side of the equation. Expect results if you change the process. Start thinking outside the box.
Reply:If tooth soap worked it would be in every office in america and you'd be hearing about it everywhere. How amazing would it be if a product could really reverse the effects of decay? It may have some ingrediants that are good for your teeth but the only way to reverse decay is to see and dentist and stop it dead in its tracks and have your teeth restored.

I have been told I have the cutest smile..do you think I should insure my teeth, or is it another money scam?

I have all my teeth, and they are perfect except for 1 filling..

I have been told I have the cutest smile..do you think I should insure my teeth, or is it another money scam?
insuring your teeth is a waste of money unless you actually make money from them, such as a model, actress, entertainer, etc. if you are just average jane and work in an office, then get your teeth smashed one day, how could you file a big claim? you would need to report some sort of financial loss. the best you could get would be your dental bills, but nothing more. if your career depended on your teeth though, that is a different story.
Reply:Sure. If J. Lo can have her a** insured, why not your teeth?

I've got great boobs, perhaps I should have them insured too?
Reply:Just keep taking good care of your teeth. Ive been told I have the cutest eyes.
Reply:I like a woman with one toof....right in the middle........for eatin' corn.
Reply:if that's the new trend then i'm gonna insure my hoo hoo, it's fantastic!

Does Anyone Know Of A Good Dental School or someone who will work with me on my teeth in Houston, TX?

I have been struggling with my teeth for a long time (10 years now). I have spent upward of $10,000 (I really should say, my Grandmother has) and the damage is still here. I was very sick about 1 years ago and have some issues from IV antibotics and other probelms created when I got ecoli and then right on the heals of this I got Viral Menengitis. Shortly after all of these things my teeth, which had been perfect, began to decay - and decay - I have had 10 back teeth removed already - and I have severe pain all the time. I really need help - but I can't afford the help I need!

Please, anyone, if you have any ideas or suggestions for me, PLEASE HELP!!!

Does Anyone Know Of A Good Dental School or someone who will work with me on my teeth in Houston, TX?
The saying...."been through the wringer" doesn't even touch what you have been through! WOW!

There are always dental schools to look into but I would recommend getting a discount dental card. Houston is full of participating dentists. It will run you $11.95 a month and will save you between 20-80% on anything the dentist does.

Why do black women have such beautiful skin and teeth?

They seem to have this natural glow. Their teeth is always a perfect white. I'm black too, but I seem to notice it more in African American women more. But of course all women are beautiful.

Why do black women have such beautiful skin and teeth?
I don't know why, but that's just the way it is as in all races. *u*
Reply:Easy because B is B(black is beautiful). Black don't crack either.
Reply:i dont understand dis line:

"I'm black too, but I seem to notice it more in African American women more."

but yea, we just beautiful like dat! :)
Reply:i think they have nice teeth

but there skin in my opinon

Reply:i think it's weird that if i were to ask why white women are so beautiful with their blonde hair and white skin...

Why do Americans think we have rotting teeth?

My teeth are pretty much perfect and so are most peoples i know...

Why do Americans think we have rotting teeth?
who is WE as you don't say where you are your question sounds pretty stupid to me. If some yank said i had rotting teeth that yank would find a few of Thar's missing pretty fast
Reply:Same way america thinks Saddam had weapons of mass destruction
Reply:they same reason why ppl in the uk think that all americans are fat
Reply:I don't know why Americans think that. I've encountered enough people from the UK to understand it isn't true. I think it's the way people taint their perceptions of others in the world. I'm certain that the people in the UK have quite a few stereotypes about us that they can't explain.
Reply:its because we dont have our teeth gleaming white like theirs
Reply:I blame Austin Powers !!!
Reply:well its because they have bigger egos than us, and they put perfection high on their list of their expectations on people, so for them having their teeth capped or redone, rather than us brits taking care of what we were born with and following health promotion, makes them live in a world that is completely cosmetic.........well i like my real boobs and my real teeth.....and its enriching seeing people who except who they are and feel complete about their bodies whether that be in the uk or america........society has a large part to play in which ever nation u live in.
Reply:For the same reason Brits think ALL Americans are fat, lazy and arrogant! Or all Muslims are terrorists! Its a generalisation! Some are, some ain't!
Reply:because its a stereotype. like them all being fat or perfect from cosmetic surgery but i dont think thats a sterotype i think thats pretty much true.
Reply:You don't have any other worries than this in your life now?
Reply:It's a story put about by American dentists.
Reply:Because they can't tell the difference between "not perfectly straight" and "rotten". Americans go to a lot of trouble to get their teeth perfectly straight and gleaming white because they are vain and because it is what their society expects. English people are much more chilled out about that sort of thing and more willing to accept people as they are.
Reply:cos they have a rotting brain (most) :)
Reply:Because compared to them we do!

There is a shortage of Dentists in the UK, particularly in the south east. Many Dentists' books are full and therfore are not accepting NHS patients. So most people go private nowadays.

Some people now go on medical holidays to eastern Europe to get high quality dental treatment at a fraction of the UK price.

Plus, the standard of Orthodontistry is much higher in the US.
Reply:Before the British adopted universal health care, dentistry was not always considered a necessity, particularly during WWII, when the rank and file of the UK had a lot more to worry about than dental hygiene. The British diet of that period was not particularly conducive to good oral health, and like China, and many other cultures, the toothbrush was not a universal grooming instrument. These factors led to a perception, and a not altogether incorrect one, that many Brits had bad teeth.

Please recall that the Austin Powers movies have brought this stereotype to the fore, and that Austin Powers is a character from the sixties, born during the bad old days of English oral hygiene. This stereotype was presented as visual humor, and to anyone with the ability to critically analyze the subtleties of this humor would understand that this was a comment on the generation now in their seventies, and not the current crop of adults.
Reply:dunno
Reply:Well we don't think you do now, but on the news one time there was a English reporter with bad teeth, but I have been to England five times so I know you dont have bad teeth, the bad teeth thing, I think comes from like the 1700's, I guess British people might have had bad teeth then but I would think other countires would too, so I dont know.
Reply:It's just an outdated stereotype. Supposedly the dentists there didn't used to be any good. But most people here don't think that anymore, don't worry! But we are all FAT, right? lol
Reply:I'm American and I don't assume that just because your from somewhere you have rotten teeth.

I like a guy with very crooked teeth. It bothers me. Is there a tactful way to initiate a talk about braces?

I know that it is superficial to be turned off by crooked teeth - I'm not perfect either - and I wouldn't stop dating him b/c of it since he has other amazing qualities, but I wanted advice on how I could tactfully broach the subject without hurting his feelings, or if I even can? I know he has always been self-conscious about this, he never smiles in pictures, getting them fixed would improve his self-confidence, and he has the money to do it. I just don't know if I can even say anything since the subject is so sensitive. I know most of you will say he deserves someone better than me for even asking this question, but please try to be kind in your answers.

I like a guy with very crooked teeth. It bothers me. Is there a tactful way to initiate a talk about braces?
Speaking as a guy with bad teeth (I am missing two right in front) this is a subject that is very near and dear to my heart.

I think it is very superficial to pay more attention to what is in his mouth than what is in his heart. If he is good to you and treats you nice then what difference does it make if his teeth are crooked?

Chances are he has already thought about braces a lot and maybe just hasn't gotten them for one reason or another. Those of us with bad teeth usually do think about it so you bringing it up is only going to make him self conscious no matter how you do it.

If it is that big an issue for you then just bring it up. Ask him and he will either respect your honesty or change his opinion of you for being so superficial.
Reply:just show him some people in magazines that have nice smiles...he should catch on!
Reply:Yea i would talk to him about it. you know tell him you had them or something or just sugest it, if i were you i wouldnt say anything till we were married or when we were really serious. otherwise it might really hurt them, uknow?

If you don't mind could you answer my latest question on here. much appreciated. im in need of a bit of help
Reply:you can start by talking about how certain traits get passed along by ancestors and then gradually get to the topic of why his teeth are crooked.
Reply:Yep. Either you like him or you don't. His teeth are none of your business. It's not your place to convince him to get braces. I'm sure he knows what his teeth look like, and he may be perfectly happy with them, or, maybe can't afford them.

In any case, butt out.
Reply:pretend u have 2 get some... itll start somthin bout teeth
Reply:Start dating him. THEN when you're his girlfriend and you guys are cuddling on the couch look up and say "Have you ever thought of getting braces, Baby? You'd look so cute and it's good for your teeth".

Try that.
Reply:Tell him you love him a lot. Then tell him exactly what you just told us. Honesty is the best policy! Most of the time anyway!
Reply:Look through his insurance and say "Hey, did you know your dental insurance covers orthodontics?!"
Reply:you're a very superficial person. if you liked the guy his teeth wouldn't bother you the way you are bothering me right now! Shut the hell up and find a guy who you don't feel you need to change in ANY way.
Reply:NO, i am sure he KNOWS he has crooked teeth since he has had them for all of his life.

Saying this to him will make him feel bad.
Reply:its tough, as he will be offended, but at least its something he can get fixed so I think because of that you should mention it.

If he had only one leg that would be a different story!
Reply:i would gently broach the subject by trying to take pics of the two of you, and then ask him to smile. if/when he doesn't, ask him *innocently* why he doesn't smile in pics. hopefully, when he answers, he'll say something about his teeth, at which time you should bring up braces, especially invisalign, which you can't see, and are essentially just retainers that you change every couple of weeks. good luck!
Reply:You should wait until you are completely comfortable around him and he is comfortable around you too. Get past the "awkward" stage in your relationship. and once you guys know eachother real well- you could bring it up nicely. If you know for sure that is why he isn't smiling in his pictures - once you know eachother real well - you should ask him why he never does. If he tells you - then suggest the clear type braces. It isn't mean to want to ask this. My husband waited a couple years to ask me. And I loved the idea cause I always hated my teeth.
Reply:Just bring up that you'd like to see him smile more and ask why he hasn't gotten braces if it bothers him- it's better to be honest than to skip around the question, that way you'll set the tone for the relationship and remember to back him up with it.
Reply:That's a tough one -- the only thing I can think of is if you both go have some sort of make-over together and let the attendant mention it to him and see what he says! Dental work can be pricey, so are you willing and able to help him out if he needs it?

I wish you well!
Reply:no...your not doing n e thing wrong. your trying to help him not put him down. you said he has the money and everything. so i would jus very nicely say....hey baby have you ever thought about gettin braces. you know. make it like very general question. like its no big deal...you know...
Reply:small appearance things shouldn't matter much if you love somebody

if he wants to get em fixed, be supportive and maybe help him get em fixed, if it really bothers you and he wants em fixed, just get a loan and fix em

if he is ok with his teeth and you are not, maybe you have to live with it
Reply:Some actors have crooked teeth it adds character, its whats inside that matters.
Reply:Are you his gf? or atleast a close friend?....if you are then if he can't talk to you about these kinda things then who can he talk to? I would slip an invisiline pamplet or something on his table or something so he can see it, he won't know that you put it there but it would get the idea in his head...and even if he doesn't get them, like you said ...you wouldn't stop dating him b/c of it.
Reply:I think you should definitely not initiate the conversation about his teeth. If he brings up the subject and speaks out about his insecurities, then you could tactfully suggest braces to "boost his confidence". But I definitely don't think you should bring that subject up yourself out of nowhere. It might make him feel even worse about his teeth, and perhaps he could even feel as if he isn't good enough for you either.
Reply:Are your teeth perfectly straight? If not, I would start by telling him that you are thinking about braces, or just going to the dentist to see what he can do to improve your smile. I would not say ONE WORD about his teeth unless he says something first. I am 25 and had braces put on 6 months ago. So for about 20 years, I was embarrassed by my smile and hated people telling me I should do this or that. I'm not dense. But there was always something. If it wasn't money, it was time. If it wasn't time, it was just embarrassment. Trust me, he knows the options out there and he has his reasons for not going. You telling him to get braces is not going to enlighten him one bit. Start out with yourself and if he sees that you are comfortable talking about his, then he might want to join. But don't force it on him.
Reply:Well I confess....If someone had teeth that weren't perfect..... I wouldn't date them. So I don't believe your superficial. Just trying to help. If it would help his confidence then try to tactfully approach the subject. Maybe find an informative article and leave it somewhere that he could find it. And there could be valid reasons to need something like this done. It can increase the risk of cavities.....

Hope all goes well..........
Reply:you said he doesn't smile in pictures that he is aware of it. maybe he would like to have the problem fixed but can't afford it. if you are willing to pay for him to have them fixed if you like him that much. i'm sure all you would have to do is bring up the subject that you'll pay. i'm sure he won't mind. i wouldn't. if i had a problem like that and the guy who liked me would like for me to have it fixed. if he payed i would. and i wouldn't take of fence to it. i would be greatful that he would pay in order for me to have a problem fixed that i had been struggling with. it would make me like him more.
Reply:Nice smiles are a must for me...so I would say have you ever thought about getting braces??? I am an open person and I have had to have them so who am I to talk about someone elses jacked up teeth....
